About me and my therapy practice

Something’s not right.

You’re managing — work, relationships, life — but underneath there’s anxiety that won’t quit, exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix, or patterns you keep repeating no matter how hard you try.

I work online with adults across the UK, specialising in adult survivors of childhood trauma — including emotional neglect, chronic criticism, parentification, chaotic homes, or “nothing terrible happened but it never felt safe.” I also work with relational trauma (when the wound happened in relationships, often over time) and vicarious trauma (when you’ve absorbed other people’s distress through caring, family roles, or front-line/people-facing work).

A lot of my clients are “the strong one” — capable, responsible, high-functioning — and quietly drowning. Maybe you look successful but feel like a fraud. Maybe you’re tired of holding it together, tired of being the one who copes.

You might have tried therapy before — got some tools, felt better for a while — but something still hasn’t shifted. Often that’s because the root hasn’t been worked with. Your struggles aren’t a character flaw. They’re adaptations that once helped you survive. That makes sense. And it can change.

I’m direct, warm, and practical. No jargon, no endless circling, no tiptoeing around what matters. We go at a pace that feels safe — but we don’t avoid the real work.

We usually move through three stages: stability first, then making sense of how the past shaped your patterns, then building change that actually shows up in your day-to-day life.

Sessions are 50 minutes. Transparent fees, confidential notes, and confidentiality within safeguarding limits. Brief email contact between sessions is fine. First chat is free — a chance to see if we’re a good fit.

Practice description

This is a practice for adults who’ve had to be “fine” for a long time. Especially if childhood was messy, unsafe, emotionally thin, or if you learned early to perform, please, or cope alone.

I specialise in working with the long tail of childhood trauma, relational trauma (when the harm happened in close relationships), and vicarious trauma (when you’ve carried other people’s pain through caring, family roles, or work). The aim isn’t to label you — it’s to understand what your system learned to do to survive, and help you build something different.

What you can expect from me: I’m present, straightforward, and human. Sessions are a proper conversation. I’ll reflect things back, name patterns, and help you track what’s happening in your body and reactions — not just the story. If you get overwhelmed, we slow down and stabilise. Safety and pacing matter, but we don’t spend months skirting the real issue either.

Sometimes therapy is deep and emotional. Sometimes it’s practical: grounding, boundaries, handling triggers, easing self-criticism, changing relationship dynamics. We’ll keep checking what’s helping and adjust as we go.

You don’t have to be articulate. You just have to show up.

My first session

The first conversation is free and there's no obligation. It's not an assessment — it's just a chance to talk and see if we're a good fit.

You don't need to have your story straight or know what you want to work on. Most people start with "I'm not even sure why I'm here" or "I don't know where to begin." That's fine. We'll figure it out together.

I'll ask a bit about what's going on and what's brought you here now. You can share as much or as little as you want — nothing's forced. I'll be honest about whether I think I can help, and if I'm not the right person, I'll say so and point you somewhere better.

By the end, you'll have a sense of how I work and whether it feels right. If it does, we'll talk about next steps. If it doesn't, no pressure — finding the right fit matters more than booking a session.

The call usually lasts 20-30 minutes. Video or phone, whatever's easier for you.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer a calm, trauma-informed space where we can make sense of what you’re experiencing without judgement or pressure. Many people I work with are high-functioning on the outside, but feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in familiar patterns underneath. We’ll gently explore how earlier experiences may still be shaping the present — in relationships, self-worth, boundaries, and the way your nervous system responds to stress.

Therapy with me is collaborative and paced to feel manageable. We’ll start by getting clear on what you want help with and what “better” would look like for you, then work step by step. Sessions often include a mix of careful listening, reflective questions, and practical support. Depending on your needs, I may draw on approaches such as relational/attachment-informed therapy, and evidence-based tools from ACT/CBT-informed practice and DBT skills (e.g., grounding, emotional regulation, working with difficult thoughts, and building steadier boundaries).

You won’t be pushed to share more than you’re ready to. Safety and choice matter, especially when trauma is part of the story. Along the way, we’ll review how the work is going and adjust our focus so therapy stays useful. I work ethically, with clear boundaries and respect for confidentiality.

Practice description

My practice is for people who want a safe, confidential space to talk things through and understand themselves more deeply. If you’ve been carrying anxiety, pressure, or a sense of “something isn’t right” for a long time, therapy can help you make sense of it — gently, without judgement.

I work in a way that is sensitive to trauma. You will not be pushed to disclose anything before you’re ready. We go at your pace and focus on what feels most important right now. Over time, we may explore how earlier experiences shaped your beliefs about yourself, your relationships, and your ability to feel safe or settled.

Clients often say they value the combination of compassion and clarity: being heard, while also having help to understand patterns and practise new ways of responding. We’ll regularly check in on how therapy is going and adjust the focus so it supports you.

My first session

In the first session we focus on three things:

what’s happening for you at the moment

what you want help with

what might get in the way (stress, triggers, anxiety patterns, relationships, etc.)

It’s not an “assessment” in a clinical sense, but I will ask some gentle questions to understand your background and what support you need. We’ll also cover how I work, confidentiality, and whether ongoing sessions feel right for you.

What I can help with

Practice description

I offer psychotherapy from my Bristol practice for adults seeking support with anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, and the long-term impact of childhood experiences. My approach is trauma-informed and grounded in a strong therapeutic relationship — a place where you can speak openly, feel understood, and begin to change patterns that no longer serve you.

You can expect sessions that balance depth and practicality. We’ll explore what’s happening now, connect it to underlying themes (such as attachment, boundaries, shame, or emotional neglect), and work towards steadier ways of coping. Therapy isn’t about being “fixed”; it’s about building clarity, self-compassion, and confidence in your own responses.

Some clients come with a clear goal; others simply know something feels off. Either way is welcome. I’ll support you to find language for your experience and develop tools that help day-to-day, while also working with the deeper roots of distress.

My first session

The first session is a chance for us to meet and see if it feels like a good fit. We’ll talk about what’s brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and what’s been hard lately. You can share as much or as little as you want — there’s no pressure to go into painful detail straight away.

I’ll also explain how I work, answer any questions, and we’ll look at practicalities like session times, fees, and boundaries/confidentiality. If we decide to continue, we’ll agree a way of working that suits you.

About me and my therapy practice

Something's not right.

You're managing — work, relationships, life — but underneath there's anxiety that won't quit, exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix, or patterns you keep repeating no matter how hard you try.

I work online with adults across the UK who are managing on the surface but carrying more than anyone sees. Maybe you've been called "the strong one" or "the reliable one" — and you're exhausted by it. Maybe you look successful but feel like a fraud. If something in that resonates, we should talk.

You might have tried therapy before — got some tools, felt better for a while — but something still isn't shifting. That's usually because the root hasn't been addressed. Your struggles aren't a character flaw. They're how you adapted to your experiences. That makes sense. And it can change.

I've navigated my own difficult terrain — I know what it's like to carry things nobody sees. That matters when you're trusting someone with the hardest parts of your story.

I'm direct, warm, and practical. No jargon, no endless reflection, no tiptoeing around the hard stuff. We work at a pace that feels safe — but we don't avoid what matters.

The work moves through three stages: stability first, then understanding how past experiences shaped your patterns, then building change that actually sticks in your life.

Sessions are 50 minutes. Transparent fees, secure notes, confidentiality within safeguarding limits. Email between sessions is fine. First chat is on me, lets see if we're a good fit.

Practice description

You know something's off. Maybe it's the constant second-guessing, relationships that drain you, or holding everything together while quietly falling apart. Life looks fine on the outside. Inside, different story.

Most people who find me have been carrying this for years. Smart, capable, often successful — but underneath there's anxiety, shame, emptiness, or just going through the motions. They've usually tried therapy before. It helped a bit, but didn't quite get there.

What I offer is different. Not magic — just focus on why you're wired this way, not just managing symptoms. The patterns running your life now usually made sense once. They were survival. Understanding that changes everything.

In sessions: direct conversation, not endless "and how does that make you feel?" I'll be honest. I'll notice things. I'll ask uncomfortable questions — but won't push you somewhere you're not ready to go. You set the pace.

What shifts over time: less hijacked by reactions, clearer about what you want, less exhausted by relationships, more at home in yourself. I can't promise outcomes — but I can promise a steady, human space where you don't have to perform.

By the end, you'll have a sense of how I work and whether it feels right. If it does, we'll talk about next steps. If it doesn't, no pressure — finding the right fit matters more than booking a session.

Practice description

My practice is a space where you can bring the bits you usually keep hidden. A lot of people I see look like they’re coping on the outside, but inside it’s anxiety, pressure, overthinking, people-pleasing, or feeling flat and disconnected.

We don’t have to rush into the past. We start with what’s going on now and what you want help with. As we go, we might link things back to earlier experiences — especially if childhood stuff (or family dynamics) still shows up in your confidence, relationships, boundaries, or how safe you feel in yourself.

I work in a trauma-informed way, which basically means we go at your pace and we keep an eye on what feels manageable. I’ll help you make sense of patterns, feel what you’ve had to push down, and build steadier ways of coping in daily life.

My first session

The first step is a free initial session where we can talk briefly about what’s bringing you to therapy and whether working together feels right. It’s also a space for you to ask questions about how I work, practicalities, and next steps. This is usually around 15 to 30 minutes
