About me and my therapy practice

As a BACP registered and UKCP accredited integrative therapist, I have extensive experience of working with a wide range of issues. If you’re feeling disconnected or stuck in unhelpful patterns, I’m here to help you find your way back to your centre of gravity. Clients often choose me when they want to work on challenging relationship or family dynamics, anxiety or work related stress.

I come from a North East working class family blighted by intergenerational trauma and anxiety. This led me to seek therapy and to leave my 17-year senior corporate career, in international business development, to train to become the therapist I had needed in those times.

My approach blends Jungian/transpersonal, psychodynamic and person-centred therapies with neuroscience. This means we can look beyond surface symptoms at the "whole" you, to explore the hidden patterns causing anxiety, depression or a sense of being stuck. The aim is to help you feel more "at home" in yourself and in your relationships, not to fix your problems but to outgrow them.

From my professional and personal experience, I know therapy can meaningfully transform how we feel about ourselves and our lives. And yet it can feel so daunting and overwhelming choosing a therapist, especially when we are at a low ebb. Feel free to get in touch for a free 20-minute zoom chat to see how it feels to talk.

I work with individuals from age 18 onwards around a wide range of issues. I was previously a counsellor at the Mulberry Centre, supporting those affected by cancer or bereavement, and Kingston Women’s Centre.

I have lived through the pressures of senior leadership and have worked in the corporate world in leadership development as well as having a Masters in Executive Coaching.

My first session

The length of the therapy usually depends upon how deep-seated the issue is. However it is your choice to decide how long you would like to continue. Sometimes people arrive already knowing they want to have long term therapy and sometimes six to ten sessions can help them make an informed to decision if they would like to continue further.

I will endeavour to be empathic, non-judgemental and genuine to create a relationship where you can begin to feel safe and open up. This is often a relief when we’ve needed to bottle things up from family and friends or have no one else to share things with.

This is an opportunity for you to explore yourself, what troubles you and how this may have been shaped by your past or current circumstances. Many of the things that keep us stuck are out of our awareness and so the aim will be to find a safe, measured way to explore this. If it appeals we can support the talking therapy by also working with dreams, art, poems or stories.

This whole process creates insight that we can then use to make meaning of what you’re experiencing. Some problems may disappear or diminish. Some don't go away but we can grow our ability to have some perspective and understanding in the moment. The aim of therapy according to Jung ‘Is not to fix our problems but to outgrow them’.
