About me and my therapy practice
My name is Antony Constantinou. I am a trained BACP-registered Psychotherapist, couples counsellor, and clinical supervisor who works from my consulting rooms in Fulham, Surbiton, and Farnham. I also work online on Skype, Zoom, and Teams.
I studied Psychodynamic Counselling at London’s Birkbeck College University and then went on to train In Integrative Counselling at Middlesex University. I undertook further training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at Tavistock and Portman and completed training in couples counselling at the Surrey counselling training. After extensive experience within the NHS, charity, and private sector, I established myself in private practice.
I continue to train and commit to continuous personal development to keep up with the code of ethics set by the BACP. I then undertook many pieces of training such as psychodynamic clinical assessment, drug and alcohol abuse, Trauma studies, anxiety and depression and personality disorders.
I have worked in the Fulham area for over five years, meeting people from all walks of life. Before this, I established my practice in the Covent Garden area of London, where I met with people who worked in the city and beyond. In addition to my clinical work in private practice, I provide professional consultation, group counselling, and health assessments within the private sector.
Practice description
Why Counselling and Psychotherapy?
In my therapy practice, I work with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and feelings of being stuck. Many clients seek my support during significant life transitions, such as marriage, pregnancy, parenthood, relocation, divorce, career changes, or illness. These moments often bring heightened stress and a need for effective emotional management.
As a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist, my approach is rooted in the understanding that our past experiences significantly shape our present thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Together, we will explore the complexities of your inner world, identifying and connecting unhealthy, repetitive patterns to earlier life experiences. This exploration will empower you to make positive changes and healthier decisions, reinforcing your confidence and resilience.
Building a therapeutic environment characterised by honesty and authenticity is vital to my work. I recognise the importance of trust in our therapeutic alliance and am committed to maintaining transparency and congruence in our interactions. This foundation allows us to create a safe space where you can delve into the deeper dynamics of your psyche.
Through our sessions, you will gain insight into the unconscious influences that shape your life, facilitating personal growth and transformation. As your therapist, I guide you through this process with empathy and respect for your unique experiences, acting as a vessel for change.
Counselling and psychotherapy from a psychoanalytical perspective can illuminate the underlying dynamics that drive your behaviour, enhancing your self-awareness and resilience. We will embark on a journey toward healing and self-discovery within a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
My first session
The initial consultation
The initial consultation is the first step you will take when contacting me. This is to help you understand what you are looking for, the various therapies, or even whether talking therapy is right for you. Sometimes, it can even be hard to know what is wrong or whether your concerns are valid. The consultation will support me in understanding you and the best possible path forward through Psychodynamic exploration and assessment.

About me and my therapy practice
My work is rooted in contemporary psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking. I am interested in the deeper structures that shape emotional life: the unconscious patterns, internalised relationships, and formative experiences that continue to influence how we feel, think, and relate in the present. Therapy offers a space in which these patterns can be observed, thought about, and gradually transformed.
With over ten years of clinical experience, I work in a way that is steady, reflective, and attentive to the subtleties of the therapeutic process. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I aim to help you understand the underlying dynamics that give rise to them. This often involves exploring the links between past and present, the ways in which early experiences are carried forward, and the unconscious meanings that shape current difficulties.
My approach is thoughtful and containing. I listen closely to what is said and unsaid, to recurring themes, and to the emotional tone of the work. While the space is supportive, I also offer interpretations and gentle challenge where it may deepen understanding. Over time, this process can lead to greater clarity, emotional freedom, and a more coherent sense of self.
I work with individuals and couples seeking to understand themselves at a deeper level, including those navigating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, identity concerns, trauma, loss, and longstanding or complex emotional patterns.
Practice description
My practice is grounded in depth‑oriented psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking. I work with individuals and couples who wish to understand the origins of their difficulties rather than simply manage them. Many people come to me with a sense that something is not working, persistent emotional patterns, relational difficulties, or a feeling of being out of step with oneself.
The work involves careful attention to unconscious processes, early relational experiences, and the internal narratives that shape emotional life. Sessions provide a space in which these dynamics can be examined with curiosity and precision. Over time, this can lead to a more integrated understanding of oneself and a shift in long‑standing patterns.
With more than a decade of clinical experience, my practice is informed by rigorous training at Birkbeck, Middlesex University, and the Tavistock and Portman, alongside extensive work in NHS services, third‑sector organisations, and private practice. I also offer clinical supervision, drawing on psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, and relational frameworks to support practitioners in developing their clinical thinking.
I work with a wide range of presentations, including anxiety, low mood, identity and sexuality, trauma, loss, life transitions, and complex or enduring difficulties. I also support clients navigating parenthood, cultural identity, and spiritual or existential questions.
I offer sessions in Farnham, Putney, Fulham, and online.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity to explore what has brought you to therapy and to consider whether this way of working feels appropriate for you. Drawing on over ten years of clinical experience, I will ask some focused questions about your current situation, personal history, and the difficulties you are encountering. This helps us begin to form a shared understanding of the underlying issues and the kind of therapeutic work that may be needed.
The initial session also allows you to gain a sense of the analytic frame: the pace, the reflective quality of the work, and the emphasis on exploring both conscious and unconscious aspects of experience. You are welcome to ask any questions about the process, frequency, or what therapy might involve over time.
I offer the first session at my standard fee. If we decide to proceed, we will agree a regular weekly time, as consistency is an important part of psychodynamic and psychoanalytic work. Establishing a stable frame helps create the conditions in which deeper exploration and lasting change can take place.

About me and my therapy practice
I offer supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists who have an interest in developing a psychodynamic understanding of their clinical work on a one-to-one basis.Practice description
My approach to clinical supervision draws from psychodynamic theories and principles. It involves a dynamic and reflective process where I aim to guide and support you in exploring the therapeutic relationship's unconscious functions, emotions, transference, and countertransference dynamics.
Through in-depth discussions, case reviews, and exploration of inner experiences, I will encourage your self-awareness, deepen your understanding of client dynamics, and promote effective interventions. I aim to focus on your personal development while helping you navigate emotional responses and biases and fostering a deeper understanding of how these factors can influence the therapeutic process. Ultimately, psychodynamic supervision contributes to the counsellor's growth, skill refinement, and the delivery of more nuanced and insightful interventions.

I offer supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists who wish to develop a stronger psychodynamic and psychoanalytic understanding of their clinical work. With over ten years of experience across NHS, third‑sector, and private settings, my approach is grounded in close attention to unconscious processes, transference–countertransference dynamics, and the developmental origins of clients’ difficulties.
Supervision with me provides a reflective space to think carefully about the material that emerges in sessions, to consider the function and meaning of the client’s communications, and to strengthen conceptual clarity in formulation and technique. My aim is to support practitioners in deepening their analytic thinking, refining their clinical judgement, and working with greater confidence and precision.
I supervise therapists at different stages of their professional development, including those consolidating psychodynamic foundations or integrating analytic ideas into broader therapeutic practice.
Practice description
My supervision practice is grounded in contemporary psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking. I work with counsellors and psychotherapists who want to deepen their capacity to think analytically about their clinical work and to develop a clearer understanding of the unconscious processes shaping the therapeutic encounter.
With over ten years of clinical experience across NHS, third‑sector, and private settings, I offer a reflective space in which to examine the dynamics that emerge in therapy, including transference–countertransference patterns, developmental themes, and the symbolic or defensive functions of the client’s communications. The aim is not simply to solve clinical problems, but to strengthen the practitioner’s conceptual framework and capacity to work with complexity.
Supervision with me involves slowing the work down, paying attention to nuance, and cultivating a thoughtful, disciplined approach to formulation and technique. I support practitioners in developing their own analytic voice, refining their clinical judgement, and gaining confidence in understanding the deeper layers of the material brought by clients.
I supervise therapists at different stages of their professional development, including those consolidating psychodynamic foundations, integrating analytic ideas into integrative practice, or seeking a more rigorous and reflective supervisory space.
My first session
The first supervision session offers space to explore your clinical work and to consider whether this supervisory approach is the right fit for you. I will invite you to outline your current practice, the kinds of clients you are working with, and any particular areas of difficulty or interest. We will think together about the themes emerging in your work, your theoretical orientation, and what you are hoping to develop or strengthen.
Drawing on over ten years of clinical experience, I pay close attention to the unconscious dynamics present in the material you bring, including transference–countertransference processes, developmental themes, and the emotional tone of the work. The initial session helps establish the supervisory frame and gives you a sense of the reflective, analytic pace we will work at.
You are welcome to ask any questions about the process, expectations, or the focus of supervision. If we decide to continue, we will agree a regular time, as consistency is an important part of effective supervisory work and supports deeper thinking over time.
