About me and my therapy practice

The pain we carry doesn't always show. On paper, everything may work, and yet something aches, a stuckness, a restlessness, a feeling of being a stranger to yourself.

When difficult feelings become too much to bear, we all find ways to defend against them. We push them out of awareness, keep busy, or turn to something that takes the edge off, whether that's overwork, alcohol, or other ways of numbing what hurts. These defences often begin as a means of survival, and for a time they protect us. But they come at a cost, keeping us at a distance from ourselves and from what the pain might be trying to tell us.

I work with people who are ready to understand that pain rather than simply endure or manage it, and who sense that being met in it, thoughtfully and without judgement, might begin to ease its hold.

My particular focus is with those navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, and longstanding relational difficulties — the hurt that recurs in relationships, intimacy, self-esteem, and identity.

My style is grounded, warm, and reflective. Alongside a genuinely non-judgemental space, I will gently challenge where it helps, so that therapy becomes not just a place to bring what hurts, but a place where it can begin to shift. Discretion and confidentiality are central to how I work.

If you feel ready to begin, the next step is to book an initial session. It gives us space to explore what's been happening for you and to see whether this feels like the right place for your therapeutic work.

Practice description

My practice is grounded in depth-oriented psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking. Rather than focusing on symptoms alone, I work relationally and in depth, paying close attention to unconscious processes, early relational experiences, and the internal narratives that shape emotional life.

Much of what troubles us operates outside awareness, and often surfaces in our closest relationships, including the one we build together in the room. Paying careful attention to what happens there is where the real work lies, and where change becomes lasting rather than temporary.

Meaningful change is rarely quick. I work in depth, usually on a weekly basis, giving the work the continuity in which what lies beneath can surface, be understood, and slowly worked through. Over time, this can lead to a more integrated sense of oneself and a genuine shift in longstanding patterns.

With more than a decade of clinical experience, my practice is informed by rigorous training at Birkbeck, Middlesex University, and the Tavistock and Portman, alongside extensive work in NHS services, third-sector organisations, and private practice. I also offer clinical supervision, drawing on psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, and relational frameworks to support practitioners in developing their clinical thinking.

I work with individuals and couples, and I see clients in Farnham, Putney, Fulham, and online.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity to explore what has brought you to therapy and to consider whether this way of working feels right for you. Drawing on over ten years of clinical experience, I will ask some focused questions about your current situation, personal history, and the difficulties you are encountering. This helps us begin to form a shared understanding of the underlying issues and the kind of therapeutic work that may be needed.

The initial session also allows you to gain a sense of the analytic frame: the pace, the reflective quality of the work, and the emphasis on exploring both conscious and unconscious aspects of experience. You are welcome to ask any questions about the process, frequency, or what therapy might involve over time.

There is no pressure to have the right words or to know exactly where to begin. We can start wherever you are and take things at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Availability

I am available Friday between 9:00 and 17:00 and offer concessionary places on enquiry, depending on the circumstances and those who cannot pay full fees. Due to financial restrictions, I would not like to keep anybody away from my clinical practice.

About me and my therapy practice

My work is rooted in contemporary psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking. I am interested in the deeper structures that shape emotional life: the unconscious patterns, internalised relationships, and formative experiences that continue to influence how we feel, think, and relate in the present. Therapy offers a space in which these patterns can be observed, thought about, and gradually transformed.

With over ten years of clinical experience, I work in a way that is steady, reflective, and attentive to the subtleties of the therapeutic process. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I aim to help you understand the underlying dynamics that give rise to them. This often involves exploring the links between past and present, the ways in which early experiences are carried forward, and the unconscious meanings that shape current difficulties.

My approach is thoughtful and containing. I listen closely to what is said and unsaid, to recurring themes, and to the emotional tone of the work. While the space is supportive, I also offer interpretations and gentle challenge where it may deepen understanding. Over time, this process can lead to greater clarity, emotional freedom, and a more coherent sense of self.

I work with individuals and couples seeking to understand themselves at a deeper level, including those navigating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, identity concerns, trauma, loss, and longstanding or complex emotional patterns.

Practice description

My practice is grounded in depth‑oriented psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking. I work with individuals and couples who wish to understand the origins of their difficulties rather than simply manage them. Many people come to me with a sense that something is not working, persistent emotional patterns, relational difficulties, or a feeling of being out of step with oneself.

The work involves careful attention to unconscious processes, early relational experiences, and the internal narratives that shape emotional life. Sessions provide a space in which these dynamics can be examined with curiosity and precision. Over time, this can lead to a more integrated understanding of oneself and a shift in long‑standing patterns.

With more than a decade of clinical experience, my practice is informed by rigorous training at Birkbeck, Middlesex University, and the Tavistock and Portman, alongside extensive work in NHS services, third‑sector organisations, and private practice. I also offer clinical supervision, drawing on psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, and relational frameworks to support practitioners in developing their clinical thinking.

I work with a wide range of presentations, including anxiety, low mood, identity and sexuality, trauma, loss, life transitions, and complex or enduring difficulties. I also support clients navigating parenthood, cultural identity, and spiritual or existential questions.

I offer sessions in Farnham, Putney, Fulham, and online.

I offer the first session at my standard fee. If we decide to proceed, we will agree a regular weekly time, as consistency is an important part of psychodynamic and psychoanalytic work. Establishing a stable frame helps create the conditions in which deeper exploration and lasting change can take place.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists who wish to deepen their psychodynamic and psychoanalytic understanding of clinical work. With over ten years of clinical experience across NHS, third-sector, and private settings, my supervisory approach is grounded in careful attention to unconscious processes, transference–countertransference dynamics, and the developmental origins of clients' difficulties.

Supervision with me provides a reflective space to think more analytically about the material that emerges in sessions, to consider the function and meaning of the client's communications, and to strengthen conceptual clarity in formulation and technique. My aim is to support practitioners in developing a robust analytic mind, greater confidence in their thinking, and a deeper capacity to work with complexity.

I work with therapists at different stages of their professional development, including those consolidating psychodynamic foundations and those integrating analytic ideas into broader therapeutic practice.

Practice description

My supervisory practice is grounded in depth-oriented psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking. I regard supervision as a space in which the clinical work can be thought about as carefully as the client is thought about in the consulting room, attending not only to what the client brings, but to what unfolds between supervisee and client, and between us in the supervision itself.

Much of what matters in clinical work registers first as feeling: something enacted, avoided, or difficult to put into words. Together we make room for this, using the transference and countertransference as sources of understanding rather than obstacles, and tracing how a client's difficulties may repeat within the therapeutic relationship.

Alongside this reflective attention, I place real value on conceptual clarity — helping supervisees develop coherent formulations, think through questions of technique and boundaries, and hold the frame with confidence. Ethical practice and attention to risk are treated as an integral part of the work rather than a separate task.

My aim is for supervisees to leave with a stronger internal supervisor: a more robust analytic mind of their own, greater trust in their clinical instincts, and a deeper capacity to sit with uncertainty and complexity.

I offer individual supervision in person and online, and I am happy to discuss the arrangement that would best suit your practice.

My first session

The first supervision session offers space to explore your clinical work and to consider whether this supervisory approach is the right fit for you. I will invite you to outline your current practice, the kinds of clients you are working with, and any particular areas of difficulty or interest. We will think together about the themes emerging in your work, your theoretical orientation, and what you are hoping to develop or strengthen.

Drawing on over ten years of clinical experience, I pay close attention to the unconscious dynamics present in the material you bring, including transference–countertransference processes, developmental themes, and the emotional tone of the work. The initial session helps establish the supervisory frame and gives you a sense of the reflective, analytic pace we will work at.

You are welcome to ask any questions about the process, expectations, or the focus of supervision. If we decide to continue, we will agree a regular time, as consistency is an important part of effective supervisory work and supports deeper thinking over time.

Practice description

My supervision practice is grounded in contemporary psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking. I work with counsellors and psychotherapists who want to deepen their capacity to think analytically about their clinical work and to develop a clearer understanding of the unconscious processes shaping the therapeutic encounter.

With over ten years of clinical experience across NHS, third‑sector, and private settings, I offer a reflective space in which to examine the dynamics that emerge in therapy, including transference–countertransference patterns, developmental themes, and the symbolic or defensive functions of the client’s communications. The aim is not simply to solve clinical problems, but to strengthen the practitioner’s conceptual framework and capacity to work with complexity.

Supervision with me involves slowing the work down, paying attention to nuance, and cultivating a thoughtful, disciplined approach to formulation and technique. I support practitioners in developing their own analytic voice, refining their clinical judgement, and gaining confidence in understanding the deeper layers of the material brought by clients.

I supervise therapists at different stages of their professional development, including those consolidating psychodynamic foundations, integrating analytic ideas into integrative practice, or seeking a more rigorous and reflective supervisory space.
