About me and my therapy practice
Are you uncovering new things about your sexuality or gender which you are unsure about? It can seem like everyone else is more sorted, more experienced, which can leave you feeling inadequate or awkward or curled up in a ball of shame. You might not have the ‘right’ words to describe exactly what you are in this time when everyone seems to have a label. Or worry that you're too old, or its too late now you're in a heterosexual relationship with kids.
There is a way through, so that you can feel more comfortable in yourself. It’s not about learning how to fit in with other people’s ideas about you; but about finding out who you are, in your own gorgeous uniqueness. We do this in therapy by having a safe space to work things out. You can talk about whatever is going on in your life. You can voice those unthinkable ideas and feelings inside you. I won’t judge you. I welcome you as you are. As you talk about whatever is important to you in a session, I will encourage you to notice what is going on inside you, your emotions, your body and your thoughts. This is so that you can find and connect with your real self. We often do find difficult emotions, and also find a way through. As we go on this journey I encourage you to be kind and curious as we discover more about you.
I have worked with a wide range of people in my private practice and LGBTQ counselling organisation, including issues of sex, identity, relationships, inter-racial relationships, being bisexual when in a heterosexual relationship, open relationships, bereavement, gender identity, coming out later in life, being a virgin, neurodiversity, abuse, shame, anxiety, life transitions.
I work with heterosexual & LGBTQ clients.
Practice description
Whilst I have over 40 years’ life experience of being a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I also work with heterosexual people. I have over 20 years working in different capacities with individuals and families in distress. As time has gone by I have become even more open-minded about the many different ways we all have of living and loving.
Together, we explore more about who you are - your values, your feelings, your responses, your thoughts. We go at your own pace, so that you can be more you, whoever you are.
I am an experienced BACP accredited counsellor, currently undergoing further training as a transpersonal psychotherapist at Re-Vision. I have additional qualifications in working with sex and with LGBTQ people.

About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel frightened that your world might fall apart if you look at your sexuality or gender? Sensing that there’s something more, but not knowing what that is; not sure whether the world of LGBTQ might be for you. Do you want to feel more at ease with yourself? Then email me to have a short initial chat about working together.
Maybe you have thoughts going round and round in your head and feel like you’ve lost track of perspective. You may feel like there’s no-one you can talk to, which can be isolating. You may believe that what’s inside you is too shocking, or wrong or too much for the people around you.
Here’s just some of the situations I have helped people with: I’m attracted to the ‘wrong’ person – wrong gender or not available or inappropriate. I feel repulsed or scared at the idea of sex, and haven’t had a ‘proper relationship’ – what’s wrong with me? I'm bisexual and in a heterosexual relationship, is that ok? I fear that if I really looked at what is going on in my relationship I might leave, and that seems overwhelming. The relationship/sex that I want isn’t acceptable in my culture, I don’t want to betray my family and I don’t know who I can talk to. I think that the gender that everyone else sees me as, isn’t what’s inside me, but I don’t know what that means for me – am I trans or non-binary? - do I have to have a label for it? I should be over my partner's death. But I'm not.
Imagine feeling less anxious and able to live your life peacefully. To know that you’re normal and that these feelings are not something to be scared of. You can feel better about yourself, have better relationships and become more confident in the decisions you make.
