About me and my therapy practice
I offer integrative humanistic counselling to adults and young people (11 and upwards) both online via Zoom or in person.
What we talk about is up to you. Without judgement, I will listen and support you in the process of deepening your own self-awareness, whilst at the same time offering warmth, understanding and sensitive challenges.
I will respect the importance of going at your pace and in the direction that you choose, and I will always work within the parameters of what feels safe for you.
Facing difficult feelings and experiences is hard. However, facing these, on your own terms, with compassion, will bring a sense of understanding and control, and from there change can happen.
I received a First Class, Bachelor of Science degree, in Humanistic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute & Middlesex University, and have been working in clinical practice for ten years. Alongside my work with adults, I work for a youth counselling charity in West London.
Practice description
The integrative counselling I offer is grounded in the humanistic approaches of Person Centered, Gestalt, and Transaction Analysis. I also draw from CBT and mindfulness, combining these techniques to tailor a way of working to suit the needs of each individual.
I invite clients to be curious about their thoughts, feelings and behaviours towards themselves, others and their wider world. I will offer techniques to help manage anxiety, whilst providing a safe environment to look deeper into the experience and causes of current blocks, emotional pain and distress.
I also believe in the healing power of humour and creativity and I aspire to incorporate these elements, where appropriate, as a way of enlivening and bringing joy to the therapeutic process.
Most importantly, I believe that healing lies through connection, and the quality of the relationship between the therapist and the client.
My first session
Initially I offer a 30 minute online or phone session to introduce myself, so you can get a sense of me and how I work. It will be an opportunity to explain your reasons for starting counselling and what you hope to gain from it, and for me to consider if I am the right therapist for your needs. If after this session, you wish to move forward we can arrange our first therapy session.
At the start of therapy I will ask for some personal details, this is to make sure that I can get help to you in the event of an emergency. In accordance with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and data protection laws, your personal information will be kept confidential and stored securely.
The duration of each counselling session will be one hour online or 50 minutes in person. How long we work together will be up to you. I am available for short term and long term work.
