About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Lee and I am a BACP registered counsellor with over 23 years’ experience offering short and long-term therapy.
In recent years much of my work has focused on supporting men.
Many of the men I see aren’t falling apart. They’re coping, working, providing and getting on with life. But underneath something doesn’t feel right. There can be a sense of pressure, frustration, or feeling stuck that’s hard to explain.
You might recognise some of this in yourself:
• Constant stress but telling yourself you’re “fine”
• Feeling more irritable or snapping more than you would like
• Feeling distant or disconnected in your relationship
• Anxiety, panic or intrusive thoughts
• Carrying things from childhood that have never been worked through
• Feeling like you should have life more sorted by now
Many men put off therapy because they believe they should deal with things on their own. Others may have tried talking before but didn’t find it particularly helpful.
My approach is straightforward and down-to-earth. There’s no jargon and no pressure to talk about anything before you’re ready. We take time to understand what’s happening in your life and work through it at a pace that feels manageable.
Over the past two decades I have worked in the NHS, private practice and the voluntary sector supporting people with trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, addictions, ADHD, relationship difficulties and personality-related issues. For the last 15 years my work has increasingly centred around men and the pressures they often carry.
Therapy with me is supportive, honest and practical. At times it may feel challenging, but many clients describe it as relieving to finally have a space where they can speak openly without judgement.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. If something in your life isn’t working as well as it could be, therapy can help you understand it and begin to move forward.
If what you’ve read here resonates with you, you’re welcome to get in touch.
Practice description
Alongside my private practice, I also provide counselling for a counselling service contracted by the NHS. I have in the past practised as a Drug and Alcohol specialist.
My integrative approach means that I am able to draw from a variety of models and techniques of counselling and psychotherapy to ensure that everyone who comes to see me has the opportunity to be met and understood as a unique individual. I offer online and face-to-face sessions.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute session either face to face, via Zoom video call or by telephone where we can discuss how I can help you and you can ask any questions you may have.
If you decide that I am the right therapist for you, we can schedule our first session and discuss your expectations from therapy and how it can support you in achieving your goals.
