About me and my therapy practice
I work as a person-centred therapist, offering a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace. I believe that when people are met with empathy, acceptance and genuine understanding, they are better able to connect with themselves and find their own way forward.
My work is grounded in building a trusting and authentic therapeutic relationship. I do not seek to diagnose or direct, but instead work alongside clients, valuing their lived experience and supporting them to develop greater self-awareness and self-acceptance.
I have experience working with neurodivergent clients, including both adults and children, and aim to offer a flexible and affirming approach that recognises and respects individual ways of thinking, communicating and experiencing the world. I work in a way that is led by the client, adapting sessions to suit each person’s needs and preferences.
I welcome clients from all backgrounds and value each person as unique.
Practice description
In our sessions, you can expect a calm, confidential and supportive space where you are encouraged to be yourself. Sessions are led by you, and we will work at a pace that feels comfortable, focusing on what feels most important for you to talk about.
I will listen with care and without judgement, offering empathy, honesty and understanding rather than advice or solutions. The aim is to help you feel heard and accepted, and to support you in developing greater awareness of your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Sessions are collaborative and respectful, with time to reflect, explore and make sense of what is happening for you. I aim to work in a flexible way, adapting sessions to suit individual needs, including those of neurodivergent adults and children.
Sessions usually take place once a week, though some clients prefer to meet fortnightly. Each session lasts 50 minutes. Above all, you can expect a therapeutic relationship based on trust, safety and respect, where you remain in control of what you share and how you choose to work.
My first session
Before starting therapy, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation. This provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions, share a little about what you’re looking for, and get a sense of whether I might be the right therapist for you. There is no obligation to continue beyond this call.
In your first session, we will spend some time completing an assessment. This involves gathering some personal information and exploring what has brought you or your child to therapy, as well as your hopes or expectations for the work. This helps me to understand your circumstances and ensures that the support I offer is appropriate.
The first session is also a chance for you or your child to experience how it feels to work together. There is no pressure to share more than feels comfortable, and we will work at a pace that feels right.
For children under the age of 16, parents or carers are welcome to sit in with their child during the first session where appropriate, and with the child’s consent. This can help the child feel safe and supported as they begin therapy. We can also discuss how sessions may look going forward, based on the child’s needs and preferences.
From the outset, I aim to create a calm, supportive and non-judgemental space where both clients and parents feel listened to, respected and informed.
