About me and my therapy practice

There are times in life when what once felt familiar no longer does.  You may be navigating a bereavement, the end of a relationship, burnout, illness, retirement, caring for an aging parent, or simply a growing sense that that life isn't how you imagined it to be.  These experiences can leave us feeling anxious, overwhelmed or disconnected from ourselves, making it difficult to know where to turn next.

As a Psychosynthesis counsellor, I value the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together.  My role isn't to give you advice or tell you who you should be, but to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion and respect as you explore what matters most to you.

I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, feel truly heard. Together, we'll explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels right for you, helping you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and discover new ways of moving forward.

Practice description

Psychosynthesis is a holistic approach to counselling that sees you as much more than the difficulties that have brought you to therapy.  Rather than focusing only on symptoms or problems, we explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships, values and aspirations, recognising that each part of your experience can offer valuable insight into your life.

Our work is guided by what feels most important to you.  Some sessions may focus on understanding patterns from the past, while others may explore challenges of the present or the possibilities of the future.  There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you need or having all the answers.

I work in an integrative way, drawing on Psychosynthesis alongside relational, attachment-informed and trauma-informed approaches where appropriate.  Above all I believe the therapeutic relationship provides a safe foundation for exploration, insight and personal growth.

I have a particular interest in supporting people through life transitions.  These experiences can be settling, but they can also become opportunities to reconnect with what matters most and to live with greater authenticity and choice.

As we work together, I will adapt my approach to your individual needs, always respecting your pace, autonomy and unique experience.

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and explore what has brought you to counselling at this point in your life.

We'll talk about what's happening for you, what you hope counselling might offer, and any questions you have about how i work.  There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you need or having all the answers.  We simply begin with where you are.

The first session also gives us both the opportunity to decide whether we feel we're the right fit to work together,  Finding a counsellor you feel comfortable with is an important part of the process, and there's no obligation to continue if it doesn't feel right.

If we decide to continue, we'll agree a regular weekly session and begin our work together at a pace that feels right for you.

The first session is the same length and charged at the same fee as ongoing sessions.  If you'd like to speak before arranging your first session, I offer a complimentary 15-minute introductory call to answer any questions and help us both decide whether working together feels like the right fit.
