About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred counsellor, practising since 2019, with counselling experience dating back to 2015. My approach is based on empathy, acceptance and understanding. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to counselling. I will listen without judgement and work alongside you, creating space for you to explore what is important to you. I won't tell you what you should do or offer quick solutions. Instead, I will support you to develop greater self-understanding, recognise your strengths and find your own way forward.
You don't need to have everything worked out before coming to counselling, and you don't need to be in crisis or have a specific diagnosis to seek support. We can begin with wherever you are and work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
My aim is to provide a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected and accepted, while having the freedom to be yourself.
Practice description
My counselling journey has included volunteering within an NHS Trust and a hospice, as well as supporting teachers and education professionals. These experiences have allowed me to support people through a wide range of personal, emotional and life-changing circumstances.
I support people experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties, life changes and living with a life-limiting illness. I also support people who may be feeling overwhelmed, struggling to cope or trying to make sense of difficult thoughts and feelings.
I recognise that culture, family, relationships and personal circumstances can all influence our emotional wellbeing and how we experience difficulties. Having lived experience of Asian culture and communities, I have an understanding of some of the cultural expectations, values and challenges that can affect individuals and families. I offer a culturally sensitive space where these experiences can be explored openly and without judgement.
Alongside English, I offer counselling in Gujarati and Hindi, giving you the choice to express yourself in the language you feel most comfortable using.
My aim is to provide a warm and accepting space where you can feel understood and supported, whatever has brought you to counselling.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute consultation before beginning counselling. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you are looking for and any questions you may have. It also gives us a chance to get a sense of whether we feel comfortable working together.
There is no different fee for the first counselling session, and there is no pressure to make a commitment following the consultation.
Before your first session, I will provide a counselling agreement for you to read and complete. This covers the practical arrangements for our work together, allowing our first session to focus on you and what you would like support with.
You don't need to prepare anything or know exactly what you want to say. We can begin with whatever feels most important to you and take things at a pace that feels comfortable.
