About me and my therapy practice
We can all experience times in our lives when it feels helpful to talk to someone, to make sense of what we’re going through.
You may be facing a particularly difficult period, or perhaps therapy is something you’ve been curious about for some time.
My name is Julia, and I offer counselling in Hackney and Walthamstow. I tailor my approach to your individual needs, drawing on different therapeutic perspectives to support you in a way that feels right for you.
I offer a warm and calm space where, together, we can explore and begin to make sense of what has brought you to counselling.
I believe that the difficulties we experience in the present often have roots in the past. Therapy can provide space to explore and understand earlier experiences, while also supporting you with what feels challenging in the here and now.
I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of helping you enhance your life and live it more fully.
Practice description
I work with adults facing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, low self-esteem and bereavement. People come to therapy for many different reasons feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that no longer serve them, struggling with loss, or wanting to understand themselves more deeply.
Alongside this general practice, I have particular experience working with adults with a diagnosis of ADHD or autism, as well as those who are self-identified or exploring possible neurodivergence. I work from a neuro-affirming perspective and recognise how often difference can be misunderstood, masked, or shaped by shame.
I also support parents navigating their child’s diagnosis — including engaging with education and other systems — and exploring their own emotional responses, identity shifts, and relationship to their child’s neurodivergence. This process can feel complex and, at times, isolating.
What I can help with
