Practice description

Every counsellor is different and sometimes the first one you meet with, might not be the right match for you.  Please don't think that all counsellors are the same; we all work differently and there is someone that will be the right person for you.  It's really important that you choose a counsellor for yourself and that you feel completely at ease during sessions, as this will ensure that you have the best possible chance to work towards a happier you.

I originally qualified as a RCVS Veterinary Nurse, working in clinical practice and then for over 20 years teaching Veterinary Nursing & providing personal support for students.  I realised that students found me very easy to trust  and talk to, not only about their studies, but also regarding home and work life.  I soon realised that one day, I would go back to studying myself and train to be a counsellor, helping veterinary professionals, animal lovers and students.

I trained as a Person-Centred Counsellor, which means I will work with you and adapt the sessions according to your needs. I work integratively and (if I think it could be helpful & you want me to) I can include psycho-education, narrative work, mindfulness and other coping strategies to help you understand yourself better and work towards a happier life.

Having benefited from personal counselling, I believe that everyone can benefit from working with a counsellor. Regardless of what you talk about, you will not be judged art all, I will try my best to help you feel safe enough to talk about anything.

I have a keen interest in working with people of all ages and have many years of experience working with anxiety, bullying, difficult home-life, relationships, blended families, disordered eating (over-eating or restricting, menopause, grief, exam stress, work stress, abuse and addiction.

My previous work in the veterinary profession enables me to offer support for pet bereavement and specialised support to Veterinary Surgeons & Nurses.
