Availability
I have availability for both early morning and late night sessions, ideal for those with busy lives, shift work and caring responsibilities.
Originally from Kent, I currently reside in New South Wales and therefore operate on AEST, meaning I can provide therapy during unconventional hours for UK clients.
About me and my therapy practice
The Logistics
I offer therapy online using Google Meet, allowing you to engage in sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
The Reality of Therapy
The relationship between us is the single most important component of our work and your progress. Research consistently backs this up, but more importantly, it is what makes therapy feel organic and natural. You will know the fit is right when you feel safe enough to be vulnerable, or at least feel ready to consider being vulnerable.
The idea of starting therapy can be daunting, and my job is to help remove those barriers. At the end of the day, I am just another person on the other side of your screen. The main difference is that I have spent my career training for this, learning how to gently pick up on the things that aren't being said, or the moments that carry more weight than you might initially realise.
My Approach
I work integratively, which means I draw from several theoretical disciplines rather than taking a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach. I weave these elements together to suit your specific needs, whether that is supporting active behaviour change, processing past experiences, or exploring deeper emotional patterns.
Who I Work With
I work with people whose life no longer feels like it fits them.
Sometimes we know why we feel that way and sometimes not, or maybe it's too scary to admit it. Sometimes we can name the symptoms, such as anxiety or depression, and sometimes we just know life isn't right. Either way, you know it isn't working for you anymore.
If you can relate to this, then you're in the right place. Reach out for a free introductory call to see how we can work together.
Specialist Support for Carers
And if you're a carer experiencing stress, burnout, guilt, resentment or anything else, then this is the place for you.
Alongside over 9 years experience working for carer support organisations, as well as lived experience, I offer a reduced rate for you. Check out my website for my information.
Practice description
I named my practice 'Katie Harris Counselling' because it represents me, all of me. When we meet on screen, you will get an authentic, warm, and real person looking back at you; someone who doesn't pretend to be perfect and who can often find lightness and humour even in difficult moments.
Therapy with me is a space where you can drop the mask and be entirely true to yourself. You will never face judgement here. Instead, you will experience genuine empathy as I learn about your world, your values, and what you are going through.
It's also a space where we can question societal norms and patriarchal values that hold both women and men back. We don't fit into neat boxes and often these expectations serve no-one. Together, we can find a more sustainable way to live while also being true to your self.
Of course, I am professional and reliable, but I am also flexible. I understand that life is messy and that fitting therapy around work, family, caring roles and other commitments can be a juggle.
What I can guarantee is that I will be right there alongside you for whatever you need to bring. I'm not afraid to be in the trenches with you during the heavy times, and together, we will help you find a way forward that feels sustainable, grounded, and entirely on your own terms.
My first session
Before We Begin
Once you book your initial session, you will receive an automated form covering basic consent and privacy guidelines. It also includes space for you to share a few personal details and a brief outline of what brings you to therapy - only if you feel comfortable sharing that beforehand.
What to Expect
Our first session is a gentle, pressure-free opportunity to get a feel for how we work together. We will explore what is happening for you right now and what has led you to seek support at this moment.
There is no expectation to tell your whole life story in one go. The reality of therapy is that getting to know the full picture happens naturally over time. We will simply start where you are, whether that's needing space to be silent, explore or cry.
Flexible Session Lengths
You have the choice of two formats for our first meeting:
Standard First Session (50 minutes): A classic therapy session length, ideal if you prefer a focused introduction and have a busy schedule.
Extended First Session (90 minutes): An optional, longer session if you feel you have a lot to unpack straight away and would appreciate extra time and breathing room to settle in.
Neither option is mandatory, you are welcome to choose whichever fits your life and budget best.
