About me and my therapy practice

Do you ever find yourself just getting through the days, pushing your feelings aside?

It’s easy to carry on without truly noticing how we feel, yet the parts of ourselves we ignore can quietly shape our lives—sometimes in confusing or overwhelming ways. Does this sound familiar?

Or perhaps you know exactly what’s troubling you but feel unsure about where to begin. You don’t have to figure it out alone—I’m here to help.

At different times in life, we can all feel stuck or overwhelmed. Even with the support of loved ones, there are moments when talking to someone neutral—a trained, compassionate professional—can make all the difference.

I’m Julie, a professional counsellor with years of experience helping people gain clarity, build resilience, and create meaningful change.

I often work with parts of self, gently exploring the inner conflicts that can keep us feeling stuck. Together, we’ll reflect on what’s happening beneath the surface and explore new possibilities, helping you move towards a sense of balance, confidence, and well-being.

Finding the right counsellor can feel daunting, but my approach is simple: I offer a safe, compassionate, and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is at the heart of meaningful therapy, and I work in a way that feels supportive, natural, and empowering.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework.

Practice description

I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can safely explore your thoughts and feelings. My goal is to help you gain clarity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of yourself, empowering you to make meaningful changes in your life.

Through our work together, you’ll begin to see things from new perspectives, opening up fresh possibilities for growth and well-being. You’ll feel more at ease, less anxious, and more connected—both to yourself and those around you.

My aim is to help you feel more like YOU—whatever that may look like.

I’m based in Kintbury, working from a peaceful therapy room in my garden, surrounded by beautiful countryside. There is plenty of parking available for your convenience.

My first session

Taking the First Step

Reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, but I’m here to make the process as smooth and comfortable as possible.

When you first contact me, I usually suggest a brief initial phone call to discuss your needs and arrange your first session. Before we meet, I’ll send all relevant documents via email—this allows us to focus on what really matters in that first session: you.

What to Expect in Your First Session

Our initial session is an opportunity for you to share what’s brought you to therapy and to get a sense of how I work. We’ll explore what you’d like to focus on, and if you’re unsure, that’s completely okay—we can work together to figure it out.

We’ll also discuss what you’d like to gain from therapy and address any concerns you may have. If you feel comfortable after this session, we can arrange a regular slot to continue, but there’s no obligation—it’s important that you find the right counsellor for you.

Ongoing Support

To begin, we typically work together, weekly, for six weeks, allowing time to build a strong therapeutic relationship. I will the check in with you to make sure that you are feeling comfortable and the therapy is on track. I work in an open-ended way, meaning you’re in control of how long we continue, and I’ll regularly check in to ensure therapy is working for you.

I currently offer face-to-face sessions in Kintbury, with Zoom sessions available if needed.

If you’re ready to take that first step, I’d love to hear from you.
