About me and my therapy practice
I am counsellor based in Cardiff, offering trauma-informed counselling to adults in person, online across the UK, by telephone, and outdoors. I work with people who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, grieving, burned out, or struggling to feel like themselves in a world that can feel demanding and unsafe.
Many clients come to therapy carrying the impact of trauma, loss, anxiety, or long-term emotional distress. You might feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, exhausted from masking, or unsure how to make sense of your experiences. My role is to offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you can slow down, be heard, and explore what’s going on for you at your own pace.
I have particular experience supporting people with:
• Anxiety, panic, and chronic overwhelm
• Grief and loss, including bereavement and ambiguous loss
• Trauma and complex trauma
• Neurodivergent experiences
• LGBTQIA+ identity, relationships, and wellbeing
My work is trauma-informed, meaning I prioritize emotional and physical safety, consent, choice, and collaboration. I understand how trauma can affect the nervous system, relationships, self-esteem, and daily life, and we work gently and respectfully with whatever you bring. You are always in control of what we explore, and nothing is rushed or forced.
I am neuro-affirmative and work respectfully with autistic, ADHD, and otherwise neurodivergent adults. I adapt my approach to suit your communication style, sensory needs, and capacity on the day. I do not see neurodivergence as a problem to be fixed, but as part of who you are. Therapy can be a space to understand yourself more deeply and find ways of living that feel more sustainable.
I am also LGBTQIA+ affirmative and welcome clients of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures. I understand the impact of minority stress, discrimination, and invisibility, and I offer therapy that is affirming, inclusive, and respectful of your lived experience.
Practice description
Sessions are offered via In person, Zoom, Telephone and Outdoors/Walk and Talk Therapy. Walk and Talk therapy provides the opportunity to get outside and experience the outdoors, making a change from your home or office.
I also offer trauma-informed film therapy which is an opportunity to explore your feelings and experiences through film offering reflective discussion, emotional processing and new perspectives.
Please let me know if this is something you wish for me to incorporate in sessions.
You can contact me via e-mail or telephone, and we can arrange a brief consultation to explore what you want from therapy and what I can offer, and you can then decide if you want to book your first session.
My first session
Our first session will build upon the themes of our consultation discussion and start to build a relationship together so that you can feel free to talk and express yourself and your feelings in the way that you choose.
In outdoor therapy, we will also discuss your preferences of being outside, for example, do you prefer to walk on the path or get on the grass and in the mud?
I will be there to support you and answer any questions you may have so that you feel you can get the most out of the sessions.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Kat, I offer counselling in Cardiff, with sessions available in person, online across the UK, by telephone, and outdoors for those who feel more comfortable connecting while walking or being in nature.
My approach is neuro-affirmative and LGBTQIA+ affirmative. I work respectfully with autistic, ADHD, and otherwise neurodivergent clients, adapting sessions to suit your communication style, sensory needs, and energy levels. I do not view neurodivergence or gender and sexual diversity as something to be “fixed”. Instead, we explore how to support you in a world that often isn’t built with you in mind.
Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected — often carrying experiences of trauma, grief, anxiety, or long-standing emotional pain. You may be navigating loss, a traumatic experience, anxiety, identity questions, burnout, relationship difficulties, or the impact of growing up feeling misunderstood. Therapy with me offers a calm, compassionate space where you don’t need to explain or justify who you are.
As a trauma-informed counsellor, I focus on safety, choice, and collaboration. Trauma can affect how you feel in your body, your relationships, and your sense of self. We move at a pace that feels manageable, with you always in control of what we explore.
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if past experiences haven’t felt supportive. Offering counselling in Cardiff, my aim is to provide a warm, non-judgemental relationship where you feel heard, respected, and supported to make sense of your experiences in your own way.
I offer a free 10-minute phone or Zoom consultation so you can ask questions and get a sense of whether we’d be a good fit. You can contact me via email, text or phone and we can then arrange a suitable time to talk, to explore your needs and potentially book a session if you feel comfortable to do so.
Practice description
Where it feels helpful, I may also draw on elements of film or TV storytelling in our work — using scenes, characters, or themes as a gentle way to explore emotions, identity, and personal experiences.
I have particular experience supporting:
Anxiety (including chronic worry, panic, and overwhelm)
Grief and loss (bereavement, ambiguous loss, identity loss, complicated grief)
Trauma and complex trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD
Neurodivergent adults
LGBTIA+ and identity exploration
Depression and low mood
If you’re looking for a Cardiff counsellor who is trauma-informed, neuro-affirmative, and LGBTQIA+ affirmative, you’re welcome to get in touch to see if I might be the right fit for you.
My first session
The first session is an initial assessment, where we can build on what we discussed in the consultation and start to explore your needs and experiences together.
This session lasts one hour and costs £60.
