About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced individual and couple psychotherapist. I specialise in helping people explore long-standing difficulties that limit the quality of life and relationships.
I have specialist training in psychodynamic psychotherapy; this type of therapy can help you identify unhelpful patterns and ways of coping that disrupt relationships, which may have roots in past early experiences.
People come to see me because they are distressed about recurring problems in their lives and relationships. They want help with their distress, to be heard, and understood, and make changes toward a more satisfying life and better connections in relationships.
Psychotherapy aims to help you make deep-seated changes that are long-lasting, as well as find relief from troubling symptoms.
Types of problems I help individuals and couples with:
Difficulty forming or maintaining satisfying relationships; Identifying unhelpful patterns and ways of coping that can disrupt relationships, which may have roots in past early experiences.
Relationship difficulties with a partner, friend, or family member. Help to understand and develop greater self-awareness about recurring problems.
Treating depression and anxiety that is restricting the ability to live a full life.

Practice description
I have over 15 years experience working as an individual and couple psychotherapist, both in private practice and in organisations.
I currently work in private practice seeing individuals and couples as well as working for the NHS as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist.
My specialist training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and couple and family therapy. I offer initial consultation sessions, where frequency and length of therapy can be fully discussed.
If appropriate following initial consultation, therapy can begin or a referral may be made to other services.
I am able to provide online sessions as well as face to face sessions at my Harrogate practice.
My first session
Before the initial consultation session I ask that you complete some basic information about yourself and a brief questionnaire.
I usually find it useful to meet for between 2 - 4 consultation sessions in order to carefully consider what you are wanting from therapy as well as whether this will be a good fit for you.
During initial sessions I will ask you about your present situation and about your past experiences, in order to understand you better. I will do my best to answer your questions too. From this we can think about options for the way forward.
