Availability

I currently have availability for new clients.

My working hours are flexible and arranged collabortively around your availability and my existing professonal commitments. I am able to offer sessions at different times depending on individual circumstances, although I may not always be able to offer the same regular weekly time slot.

Where possible, I aim to establish a consistent pattern of sessions, as I believe that continuity is an important part of the therapeutic relationship and the work that we do together. We can discuss what frequency and arrangement would work best for you when you make contact.

I am currently available for online therpay via Zoom. In some circumstances, where it is therapeutically appropriate, I may also be able to offer home visits.

I do not currently have any planned periods of leave or time away from my practice. If this changes, I will update my availability and give notice.

About me and my therapy practice

I'm Zoe, an integrative therapist and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have a diploma in Integrative Counselling and over 15 years of working therapeutically with adults.

I have always been curious about people and the experiences that shape who we become. I believe that everyone has a story worth understanding, and that we are much more than our diagnosis, circumstances, struggles or the most difficult things that we may have experienced.

My approach is warm, compassionate, and accepting. I want the people I work with to feel genuinely heard and understood, without fear of judgement. I believe that feeling safe enough to be yourself is a important part of developing a meaningful and effective therapeutic relationship.

My experience spans the NHS, forensic mental health services and prisons, where I have worked alongside people experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. This has given me a particular understanding of complexity, while also reminding me that therapy does not need to be complicated to be meaningful.

I remain commited to learning and developing throughout my career. My practice is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therpay (ACT), Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) and attachment informed and trauma informed approaches, alongside my wider Integrative training.

I see therapy as a collabortive process. I bring experience, curiosity and compassion, while recognising that you are the expert in your own life. My hope is to create a space where you can begin to understand yourself differently, reconnect with what matters to you and consider what you want your life to look like.

Practice description

I offer a warm, compassionate and non judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever has brought you to therapy. You do not need to arrive with everything worked out, and you do not need to know excactly what you want from therapy before we begin.

I work collabortively, which means that we will work together in discovering what may be happening for you, what you might like to be different, and what might help. I will not tell you what you should do or expect you to fit into a particular way of working. Instead I will draw on different therapeutic approaches and adapt the work to you, your circumstances and what feels most useful.

Sometimes therapy may involve making sense of difficult thoughts, feelings or experiences. We might explore relationships, patterns of behaviour, confidence, self esteem, motivation or the ways that you respond when life feels difficult. At other times the focus may be on what matters to you, the kind of life you want to build, and what might help you to move towards it.

My work is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mentalisation Based Therpay (MBT) and attachment and trauma informed approaches. I use these flexibly rather than expecting you to learn to fit into a particular model. Where appropriate, therapy may include developing greater awareness of your thoughts and emotions, finding different ways of responding to difficult experiences, understanding yourself and others more clearly, and reconnecting with your values and what matters to you.

I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is central to the work. I will bring warmth, honesty, curiosity and compassion, while also being willing to step into and explore difficult or uncomfortable experiences with you.

My aim is not just to simply help you in the moment, but to support you in developing a different relationship with yourself and find ways of moving toward a life that is meaningful for you.

My first session

I offer a free 20 minute consultation before beginning therapy.

This gives us an opportunity to meet, talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy and what you might be looking for, and for me to ask a few initial questions to understand a little more about your circumstances.

Most importantly, it gives you the chance to get a feel for me and how I work, and to consider whether you feel comfortable talking with me. Choosing a therapist is a personal decision, and I believe it is important that you have the opportunity to decide whether I feel like the right person to work with.

There is no obligation to continue after the consulation. If we both feel that working together could be helpful, we will talk about the next steps, including the frequency of sessions and what you may like to focus on.

If you would like to get in touch, you can email me directly or visit my website, where you can complete a short enquiry form. I will then get in touch with you to arrange your free consultation.
