I have over 25 years’ experience in helping professions and have run my own counselling practice for seven years, supporting people with a wide range of difficulties. I have particular experience working with people who feel nervous about counselling, unsure where to begin, or fearful of approaching difficult feelings and experiences. I understand how vulnerable this can feel.

There is no expectation that you push yourself beyond what feels manageable. We work together, at your pace, building trust and finding ways to approach difficult experiences when you feel ready. As part of my somatic approach, I pay attention to physical signs of overwhelm and help you recognise when you feel settled, anxious, frozen or disconnected. Developing this awareness can help you understand your responses and recognise when you need to slow down, pause or take a step back.

You always have a choice in the counselling room. We can stay with something, pause or move away from it. You don't have to share anything before you feel ready. Our work is collaborative, guided by your needs and goals, with space to find a way forward that feels right for you.

I also understand that reaching out for counselling can be emotionally and financially challenging. I aim to work flexibly wherever possible, including discussing fees and session frequency, so that therapy feels more accessible and manageable.

About me and my therapy practice

Counsellor MBACP Specialising in Trauma | Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner

I am a fully qualified BACP Integrative Counsellor specialising in trauma, combining talking therapy with Somatic Experiencing® (SE), a body-focused approach.

You may experience anxiety, overwhelm, feeling constantly on edge or disconnected from others. Perhaps you struggle with anger, low mood, shame, relationship difficulties or patterns you can't seem to change.

Trauma isn't always one devastating event. It can develop through repeated experiences of feeling unsafe, unseen or unsupported, particularly in childhood and early relationships, shaping how we see ourselves and relate to others.

My own journey into counselling and personal therapy has given me a deep appreciation of healing, informing my compassionate and authentic approach.

Sometimes understanding our past isn't enough. Our bodies can continue responding as though we are under threat. Somatic Experiencing® gently explores these responses, developing greater awareness, stability and choice. With your agreement, we work at a manageable pace without needing to revisit every painful memory.

I have experience supporting people affected by sexual trauma and relationship difficulties, and UK Armed Policing personnel through the Police Firearms Officers Association (PFOA). I also provide training on trauma and its impact on the body.

I welcome clients with ADHD who experience emotional overwhelm, heightened stress, restlessness or difficulties regulating emotions. Body-focused work can help you recognise physical signs of overwhelm, activation or shutdown and develop greater calm and stability.

You don't have to remain stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. Therapy can help you understand yourself, build self-compassion and discover new ways of feeling, relating and living.

Practice description

You may understand your experiences but still wonder why certain feelings or reactions keep returning, such as anxiety, low mood, persistent tiredness or difficulties in relationships. Trauma isn't always caused by one devastating event; it can also develop through repeated experiences of feeling unsafe, unseen, unsupported or overwhelmed, particularly in childhood and early relationships, shaping how we see ourselves, relate to others and respond to the world long after those experiences have passed.

I am a counsellor specialising in trauma, with a particular interest in early relational and developmental trauma and how our earliest experiences of care, connection and safety affect us throughout life.

My approach combines talking therapy with Somatic Experiencing® (SE), a body-focused approach to trauma. Talking helps us make sense of our experiences, while Somatic Experiencing gently explores how stress and overwhelm show up in the body. Even when we understand our past, our bodies can still react as though we are under threat. This might feel like tension, a racing heart, feeling frozen or wanting to withdraw.

With your agreement, we can incorporate Somatic Experiencing® at a pace that feels manageable. By gently noticing bodily sensations and building a greater sense of safety and choice, we can explore your responses without needing to revisit every painful detail or share your story before you feel ready.

There is no pressure to work in a particular way. We can focus on talking therapy, body-focused work, or a balance of both that feels right for you.

Fees and Accessibility

My standard session fee is £65. Session frequency can be flexible, with bi-weekly sessions or regular weekly sessions or on an ad-hoc basis.

My first session

A key part of the therapy process is working with a therapist who feels right for you. That’s why I offer an initial session—it’s a chance for us both to get a sense of each other. You’ll learn more about how I work, and I’ll learn more about your current situation and what’s brought you to therapy at this time.

This first meeting can help you decide whether I’m the right person to support you, and it also allows me to consider whether I’m best placed to help with the issues you’re facing. There’s no pressure—just an opportunity to explore whether this therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit.

What I can help with

Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, AIDS/HIV, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Cancer, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Depression, Disability, Eating disorders, Health related issues, Infertility, Loss, Menopause, Mood disorder, Neurodiversity, OCD, Post-traumatic stress, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Service veterans, Stress, Substance Dependency, Trauma, Work related issues
