My practice is mainly online, allowing clients to access counselling from a private and comfortable space. Face-to-face sessions in Newington, Kent (ME9) will also be available from September 2026 for clients who live locally.

Although I offer a wide range of appointment times, I maintain a limited caseload. This enables me to work ethically and ensures that each client receives consistent, attentive and high-quality support.

About me and my therapy practice

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you are used to managing everything on your own or putting other people’s needs before your own.

I offer a warm, honest and down-to-earth space where you do not have to have the right words or know exactly where to begin. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in difficult relationship patterns, carrying grief, or trying to understand why certain experiences still affect you now. Sometimes people come because life looks fine from the outside, but internally they feel exhausted, disconnected or unsure of themselves.

I do not believe therapy should feel clinical or one-sided. I will listen carefully, but I will also be actively alongside you, helping you notice patterns, make connections and understand yourself more clearly. I will not tell you what to do, but I will support you to explore what you need and what may need to change.

My approach is flexible and shaped around you. Some sessions may focus on what is happening in your life now, while others may explore earlier experiences and how they continue to influence your relationships, confidence, boundaries or sense of self.

I have over 13 years’ experience as a counsellor and also work as a clinical supervisor. My practice is mainly online, with face-to-face sessions in Newington, Kent (ME9) available from September 2026.

Practice description

I see counselling as a collaborative process. You are the expert on your own life, experiences and needs; my role is to work alongside you, helping you explore what is happening and find a way forward that feels right for you.

At the beginning of our work, we can talk about what you would like to gain from counselling and agree some goals together. These do not need to be fixed or formal, and we can review them as the work develops. Your needs may change as you begin to understand yourself differently, and our sessions can adapt with you.

I do not use a one-size-fits-all approach. Some clients need space to talk and process, while others prefer more structure, questions or practical ways of working. We will regularly check in about what is helpful, what is not, and whether the way we are working continues to meet your needs.

Self-care is also an important part of my approach. This is not simply about adding more tasks to your day, but understanding what helps you feel emotionally safe, supported and connected to yourself. Together, we may explore boundaries, relationships, rest, coping strategies and the ways you respond to your own needs.

The aim is to create a relationship where you feel listened to, involved and able to make choices about your therapy. We will work at your pace, with honesty, openness and respect.

My first session

I have written a blog on my website called “Starting Therapy: What Actually Happens in the First Session?” to help take away some of the uncertainty about beginning counselling.

https://bloomingtherapy.co.uk/starting-therapy-what-actually-happens-in-the-first-session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and talk about what has brought you to therapy. You do not need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say. We can begin with whatever feels most important or manageable for you.

I may ask some gentle questions about what is happening in your life, what you would like support with and whether there are any important wellbeing concerns I should be aware of. This is not a formal assessment and you remain in control of what you choose to share.

We will also talk about confidentiality, how I work and what you may want from counselling. The first session gives you a chance to see how it feels to work together and whether I am the right therapist for you.

Payment is required in advance to secure your booked appointment. Once payment has been received, I will send you the Zoom link for the session.

About me and my therapy practice

My supervision practice is warm, collaborative and grounded in the realities of client work. I aim to offer a space where you can speak openly about your practice, including the parts that feel uncertain, complex or difficult, without fear of judgement.

I believe good supervision should offer both support and challenge. I will listen carefully, help you reflect more deeply and gently question where this may support your development. Together, we can explore clinical work, ethical dilemmas, boundaries, risk, professional confidence and the emotional impact of being a therapist.

My approach is not one-size-fits-all. I work with each supervisee in a way that reflects their experience, learning style, role and stage of development. I also understand that neurodivergent therapists may need supervision to be flexible, clear and responsive to how they process information and organise their work.

I place the wellbeing of both the client and the practitioner at the centre of supervision. This includes supporting you to notice the impact of the work, recognise when you may be carrying too much and develop ways of working that are ethical, sustainable and true to who you are as a practitioner.

I want supervisees to leave sessions feeling heard, clearer in their thinking and more confident in their own judgement. My role is not to give you all the answers, but to help you strengthen your clinical voice, trust your skills and continue growing in a thoughtful and supported way.

Practice description

have supported many supervisees through professional development and accreditation, including helping them reflect on their work and prepare reports and supporting evidence for BACP accreditation. I understand how important it is for this process to feel clear, manageable and genuinely reflective of the practitioner you are becoming.

Many of my supervisory relationships have continued for several years. I value the trust that develops over time and the opportunity to support supervisees through different stages of their careers, from training and first placements through to qualification, accreditation and more established practice.
