About me and my therapy practice

At the root, I love encountering people where they're at and walking alongside them awhile. Perhaps I help you get unstuck, regain your bearings or find a new perspective. Perhaps we face the currently unbearable together. Or perhaps we sit in the stillness, reflect on your journey to this point and listen to what's yet unsaid or unheard.

I work by phone, online or outside and we can meet for one session at a time or more regularly. The important thing is what you need at this point in your path.

Having worked in a university and with those affected by a terminal illness, I draw from a range of approaches including existential, relational and CBT approaches. I can bring psychological and philosophical understanding on a range of human struggles, e.g. depression, anxiety, stress, addictions, meaning, dying, uncertainty, parenting and relationships. I also have a particular interest in spirituality, masculinity and ADHD. However, the important thing when we meet is how this helps us to understand your experience and your path.

Practice description

Outside Therapy

I offer outside therapy at RHS Wisley and around Alton.

Online and Phone Therapy

I offer online therapy via Google Meet.

What should I expect from the sessions?

  • You get a regular, confidential space in which to talk about your life. This is yours. It will be up to you what you'd like to share each week.
  • I won’t judge, dismiss or try to fix things for you. Instead, I will listen attentively, trying to understand what it is like to live your life and offer this understanding back to you. We can then be curious about and explore your experiences so that you can begin to recognise yourself more fully, process emotions and experiences you have not yet been able to and discover your own strengths, values and wisdom.
  • I may challenge you where I think you might have learnt ways to sabotage yourself. Or, I may offer you my own experience or perspective on what you have shared. I offer these when I think they might be helpful, acknowledging that it may not be too.
  • This back-and-forth process opens up new ways forward. We can then explore putting these into practice.

How many sessions?

I offer short-term and long-term therapy. This, in the end, is your choice. You may also just want to work in single sessions, booking these as you need them.

Accessibility

Outside: we will go at your pace and discuss suitable routes at the initial session.

What should I expect from the sessions?

  • You get a regular, confidential space in which to talk about your life, thoughts and feelings. This is yours. It's true that the more you feel able to engage in this, the more you will get out of counselling. Equally, it will always be up to you what you'd like to share each week.

I will help you to explore your life, thoughts and feelings, so that they begin to make more sense to you. And I will challenge you when I suspect you’ve learned ways to sabotage yourself.
  • This back-and-forth process will open up new ways to survive or thrive which we can then explore putting into practice in your everyday life.

About me and my therapy practice

Supervision is a space to be held, to reflect and to return to ourselves as practitioners.

My initial training was in relational, systemic and CBT approaches to counselling. I also resonate with person-centred ways of being and existential approaches. I would describe myself as integrative-relational.

In my supervisor qualification, I trained in the 7-eyed model. However, my primary focus is the person of the therapist who is in the room with me. I see supervision as a vital space in which to hold, contain and reflect upon what's going on in us and who we are finding ourselves to be in relation to our work.
