About me and my therapy practice
I offer a space for you, where we can slow down and understand what is going on for you underneath all the difficulties that you are facing in your daily life. I work with psychodynamic and emotionally focused frameworks, which means we look at the patterns and feelings that sit beneath the surface.
In couple therapy, we look at the cycle that you both might be caught in, such as the same argument repeating itself, never finding a solution. The aim is to help you understand each other again, fully see and hear the other person, finding your way back to each other and reconnect on a deeper level. We can look at how the past events in your relationship have affected each of you and how you can move forward from past hurts and disappointments, to eventually become a team again.
In individual therapy, we can make sense of anxiety, low mood, stress, or the feeling of being disconnected from yourself. Maybe you have had some life transitions happening that you have struggled to cope with, or maybe you just want to have a space for yourself to feel heard and understood, giving you an opportunity to breathe and understand what is happening for you at this point in your life and how you can be the person you want to be.
I also offer Walk and Talk Therapy for people who prefer the outdoors, being surrounded by nature.
Practice description
I work with couples and individuals, both in person and online.
In my work with couples I have worked with feelings of disconnection, having the same arguments, struggling with the pressure of parenting life, or experiencing challenges that affect your love and connection as partners (e.g. life transitions or breach of trust).
When working with individuals, I have explored and supported people with anxiety, low mood, stress, the overwhelm of parenting, feeling disconnected from themselves, or going through or thinking about separation.
I love being outdoors and if you prefer talking while walking, I also offer Walk and Talk Therapy as I find it is a helpful way to reconnect with your body and nature, bringing a sense of calmness that an office room might not be able to provide.
What to expect: We begin with a 15-minute introductory call, where you can tell me what has brought you to counselling. It is a great opportunity to ask any questions, and see whether working together feels right for you. If you decide that you would like to work with me, we can find a day and time that suits you. Once this is agreed, I will forward on the counselling agreement and wellbeing form for you to fill out and book you in for your first session. All sessions are 50 minutes, and are weekly.
Fees:
- Couple therapy: £70
- Individual therapy: £50
- Walk and Talk therapy: £50
Please email me at info@paulalevack.co.uk to ask any further questions.
My first session
Coming to your first session can be daunting and nerve-racking. Maybe you have held on to all your pain for quite some time and are unsure what to expect. Your first session is a chance to get to know me better, explain what is going on for you, get a sense of whether or not you feel comfortable working with me. We usually spend some time to talk about what has brought you to counselling, and what your expectations are for our time together, and set some personal goals you want to achieve.
If you are coming as a couple, I'll invite you both to share your experience of what has been happening between the two of you within your relationship. Together, we will explore your expectations of the therapy process, and discuss potential goals you might want to achieve. I will also spend some time on getting to know your relationship.
Usually, after the first few sessions, you will get a better sense of how I work and we can have a review on how things are going for you and whether there is anything you would like me to change in our work together.
