About me and my therapy practice

I have been a therapist for over ten years.

I studied an integrative method as allows me to draw from different approaches depending on what a client's issues or needs are, as different approaches work for different people.

I provide a safe, open place to talk about about any difficulties you are facing, free of judgement. I will work with you to understand your thoughts and feelings, to help you consider what is happening in your life, and to help you understand why. I look for patterns in thoughts, feelings and behavior that perhaps won't be immediately obvious to you. I view counselling as being focused around a particular issue or problem. Often this can be addressed over a shorter period. Psychotherapy doesn't have this same specific focus and is more open ended. It can take time and can be more intense, but can be deeper and rewarding.

I work in east and north London.

Practice description

I am based in east London but also work in north London. I work in person as well as online or on the phone.

Not everyone has a clear idea of what they want from therapy. I have experience in working with many different concerns and issues. Whether you have been in talking therapy before or this is your first time, I will work with you to determine what you would like to get out of it.

As a therapist, I have a background working for low cost counselling services, for charities, on behalf of the NHS, and in private practice. Outside of this work, I have worked in the charity sector, working with client groups including the homeless, people in addiction, and those with serious mental illness. Previously, I worked in media, journalism, the music industry and the arts.

My first session

Starting therapy can be quite daunting. The first session would be about getting to know each other, and to think about what you would like to get out of coming. Typically, this session would be finding out about what is going on in your life and what's led you to want to talk to someone. I see my job as a therapist to help you think about what is happening in your life, and to help you understand why. I would also explain how I work. It can take time to get to a point where we both trust and are comfortable with each other. This is something I will discuss with you as we meet, so we can both have an idea of where we are.

If you are interested in booking an appointment, I offer an initial free 20 minute meeting online or on the phone. Anything we discuss would be completely confidential.
