About me and my therapy practice

Janet Hanes MBACP-(Accred)  counsellor/psychotherapist

Welcome to my page.

There are times in our lives when we experience distressing events, this can sometimes make us feel anxious, depressed or and confused. I will do my best to help you make sense of these feelings. I can offer an opportunity for you to explore your thoughts, emotions and worries at your own pace in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space.  It will enable you to gain a better understanding of yourself and  together we can find a solution.

Practice description

I am a person-centered / intregative  psychotherapist/counsellor , which means I can apply the best therapeutic approach that best suits your needs.

I am a registered member of BACP and I work within The Ethical code of good practice.

I currently work for two charitable counselling organisations.

One specialises in bereavement and loss and the added complications that sometimes occur during the loss of a loved one.

The second organisation provides a high standard of counselling, with a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, loss, past abuse.

My background is Nursing,   My experience of nursing over the years has shown me, the importance of not only the medical and nursing interventions used to help heal, but hand in hand the immense value of being listened too, for a patient to be able to express their feelings and concerns at a difficult time for them and their families can be hugely beneficial and this can facillitate healing.

I am now retired from Nursing,  My experiences  from caring and listening to others,  inspired me to become a counsellor.   I can  offer  an empathic safe, confidential space for you  to share your feelings and  to have a voice which is respected and heard.

My first session

There is no obligation for you to continue after the inital session, if however, you wish to continue, we can arrange weekly sessions, these will last for 50 mins. There is no limit on the amount of sessions, how long you choose to stay is up to you. It is always your choice.
