About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative therapist dedicated to supporting children, teens, and young adults through emotional and behavioural challenges. My therapeutic approach is founded on the belief that while past experiences shape us, every young person possesses an intrinsic capacity for growth and the ability to overcome patterns that may have held them back.

Practice description

How I work

I work integratively, drawing on psychodynamic and person-centred therapy, CBT-informed and behavioural approaches, and creative methods such as play, art, and sand tray work. My practice is relational and humanistic, and where helpful, I incorporate mindfulness, compassion-focused ideas, and walk-and-talk or animal-assisted sessions with my therapy dog-in-training, Mr Fonzie.

For children and adolescents who may struggle to articulate emotions verbally, art and creative play become invaluable tools, enabling self-expression when words fall short. My therapy space is thoughtfully stocked with materials like paint, crayons, clay, slime, sand tray, and puppets, encouraging individual creative expression that we integrate into our therapeutic journey.

What I can help with

I work with young people experiencing anxiety and stress, low mood and depression, self-esteem difficulties, self-harm and emotional regulation challenges, addiction and substance use, behavioural and school issues, trauma, loss, and major life transitions.

My background

My experience includes three years as a volunteer therapist with Place2Be, working with 5-12 year olds in weekly play therapy, and ongoing work as a behavioural coach and integrative psychotherapist with Portobello Behavioural Health, supporting young people and adults with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

My approach

My approach is collaborative and tailored to you. We'll work together to understand your experiences, build resilience, and discover new ways of coping. My aim is to empower you to feel more confident, find your own solutions, and thrive.

My first session

 My first session

Before we meet for your first full session, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. This is an informal conversation where we can discuss what's bringing you to therapy, explore whether my approach might be a good fit, and answer any questions you have about how I work. There's no obligation to proceed after this initial call.

If we decide to work together, the first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and begin building trust. For younger children, this often means exploring the therapy room, meeting Mr Fonzie, and discovering the creative materials available. For teens and young adults, we'll talk about what's been happening and what you'd like to change or feel better about.

I'll ask some questions to understand your background, what support you've had before (if any), and what's important to you and your family. For children and younger teens, I usually invite a parent or carer to join part of the session so we can all be clear about what we're working towards together.

There's no pressure to share everything in the first session—therapy is a gradual process, and we'll move at a pace that feels right for you. My priority is that you feel safe, heard, and comfortable.

First sessions are charged at the standard rate of £90 for 50 minutes. Sessions are weekly at the same time, and we'll agree on a regular day and time that works for everyone.

If you have any concerns about starting therapy—whether practical, emotional, or financial—please don't hesitate to raise them. I want therapy to feel as accessible and supportive as possible from the very beginning.
