About me and my therapy practice

Life doesn't always leave much room to pause and think. Whether you're balancing work, family life, caring responsibilities, travel, or simply prefer being at home, online therapy offers the opportunity to stop, reflect and make sense of yourself—wherever you are.

Therapy isn't about fixing you. It's about helping you understand yourself, so that change becomes possible rather than something you simply hope for.

Sometimes life leaves us feeling overwhelmed, stuck or disconnected. You may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties or loss, or simply feel life has become harder than it needs to be. Many of the ways we think, feel and relate once made perfect sense, helping us cope with difficult experiences. Together, we can understand those patterns, where they came from, and whether they still serve you today.

Although we may not be in the same room, the therapeutic relationship remains at the heart of our work together. Clients often tell me how connected and personal online therapy feels. My approach is warm, collaborative and rooted in curiosity. I don't believe there is something 'wrong' with you. I believe there are reasons why you think, feel and respond in the ways that you do.

Therapy is about more than learning to cope. It is an opportunity to understand yourself, your relationships and the experiences that have shaped you. By exploring your present alongside your past, we can develop greater self-awareness, self-compassion and the freedom to make different choices.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, addiction, life transitions and the impact of a late ADHD diagnosis. I also have specialist training as a Barnardo's Adoption Support Counsellor and welcome clients whose lives have been touched by adoption. Whether adoption is the reason you are seeking therapy or simply one part of your story, I recognise its lifelong impact on identity, belonging and relationships.

Practice description

Online therapy allows us to create a regular space that's just for you, a chance to step away from everyday demands, slow down, and become curious about your experiences. Whether you're at home, travelling for work, living elsewhere in the country, or simply find online sessions fit more naturally into your life, therapy remains a place to pause and reflect.

No two people arrive in therapy with the same story, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Together we will work at a pace that feels right for you, creating space to explore whatever has brought you to therapy with openness and curiosity.

I won't tell you how to live your life or offer quick fixes. Instead, I'll work alongside you to help you make sense of your experiences, recognise patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. Sometimes our conversations may feel reflective and supportive; at other times I may gently challenge you or invite you to consider a different perspective. Therapy can be both comforting and thought-provoking, and I believe lasting change comes through understanding rather than simply managing symptoms.

My approach draws on Transactional Analysis psychotherapy alongside relational and humanistic principles. This means I'm interested not only in the difficulties you're experiencing today, but also in how your life experiences, relationships and early decisions may continue to influence you. Together, we can make sense of those patterns, understand where they came from, and decide whether they still serve you today.

I don't believe therapy is about becoming someone different. I believe it's about understanding yourself well enough to decide what you want to keep and what you'd like to change. Whether you are seeking therapy for a specific issue or simply feel something isn't quite right, my hope is that you will leave each session with a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships and the choices available to you.

My first session

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, which is why I offer a free 20-minute introductory Zoom call before arranging a first appointment.

This initial conversation gives us the opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and whether we both feel we would be a good fit to work together. It is also your chance to ask any questions about me, how I work, or what to expect from online therapy. There is no obligation to continue afterwards, I believe it is important that you feel comfortable with the therapist you choose.

If we decide that working together feels like the right fit, our first full online session is simply the beginning of getting to know one another. You don't have to have the right words, or even know exactly where to begin. Therapy offers a place where we can gently make sense of whatever feels important, at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Rather than rushing to find solutions or expecting you to tell me your whole life story in one session, we'll begin by exploring what has brought you to therapy at this point in your life. Together, we'll start to build an understanding of your experiences, discuss what you hope to gain from therapy, and agree how we will work together moving forward.

If what you've read resonates with you, I'd be pleased to hear from you. We can arrange a free 20-minute introductory Zoom call to see whether working together feels like the right fit. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.

About me and my therapy practice

I specialise in working with adopted adults, adoptive parents, birth parents and others whose lives have been touched by adoption. As a psychotherapist with specialist training as an Adoption Support Counsellor, I understand the lifelong impact adoption can have on identity, belonging and relationships.

For many people affected by adoption, there can be a quiet question that lingers in the background: "Why have I always felt different?" Therapy offers the opportunity to make sense of your story, understand your experiences, and discover that many of your thoughts, feelings and adaptations are understandable responses to what you have lived through.

Therapy isn't about fixing you. It's about helping you understand yourself, so that change becomes possible rather than something you simply hope for.

For some people, the impact of adoption can be seen in the ways they have learnt to cope. Addiction, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or constantly adapting to meet the needs of others may once have been creative ways of surviving. Others wonder whether lifelong difficulties with attention, emotional regulation or feeling different may be linked to ADHD, developmental trauma, or a combination of both. Therapy doesn't begin by searching for a label. It begins by making sense of your unique experience.

My approach is warm, collaborative and rooted in curiosity. Together, we can understand the patterns that have shaped your life, explore the meanings you've made about yourself and others, and decide whether those patterns still serve you today.

You don't have to explain why adoption still matters. Together, we can begin to make sense of your story, discover greater freedom in how you move forward, and decide what you want to keep and what you'd like to change.

Practice description

Every adoption story is unique. Whether you are an adopted adult, an adoptive parent or a birth parent, your experiences, relationships and the meanings you've made of them will be entirely your own. Rather than making assumptions, my role is to be curious about your experience and understand what has shaped it.

Together we'll work at a pace that feels right for you. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach because no two people experience adoption in exactly the same way. Therapy offers the opportunity to explore your experiences with openness and curiosity, making sense of what feels most important to you.

I don't believe therapy is about becoming someone different. I believe it's about understanding yourself well enough to decide what you want to keep and what you'd like to change. Whether you've always known adoption has affected you, or you're only beginning to wonder about it, we'll begin wherever you are.
