About me and my therapy practice

I am a Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapist based in Hackney & Ealing (London)

The fundamental belief that informs my practice is that life is about learning, and this is informed by an attitude of deep curiosity about what life is trying to teach us through our experience.

I am passionate and enthusiastic by nature which is tempered with a deeply philosophical disposition to both life and the therapeutic endeavour.

I have a rich and diverse background prior to finding my calling as a therapist. This included studying Architecture at University, then running a music business for 10yrs - followed by 15yrs as a recruitment consultant specialising in transformational change.

All of which have provided me with a diverse range of experience with people from all walks of life and a keen appreciation of how difficult change can be no matter what the context.

Having also lost both my wife and my business all at once, both of which I invested 10yrs of my life into - I am also coming from a place of humility & compassion for how hard life can be.

So it is with this experience of the highs and lows that life can deal us, that I bring a humble and compassionate curiosity to the process of helping my clients face the gravity of their invariably anxiety provoking circumstances with a new found wisdom that enables them to grow and evolve with dignity and courage through the challenging process of change - be that a change of circumstances or a more profound change of character and/or worldview

Practice description

I see therapy as a mutual endeavour, where you bring your experiences with you (whatever feelings or thoughts that might be troubling you) into a safe space (no judgement just open minded curiosity) where together we work diligently to unpack those experiences by teasing out your thoughts, feelings and actions in relation to what you experienced and the perception you took away from them.

I would then invite you to adopt an attitude of open minded curiosity towards whatever emerges in the process, with the intention of looking at the meaning you have attributed to the situation (which is often what is causing the distress), and then together we would explore different ways of looking at the meaning of the situation that has led to your distress, so we can use these different perspectives to generate a new understanding of why this distressing situation or relational dynamic may have happened.

With this new take on things, you may find that you experience a new emotional response to the situation, which can often then allow you to see and feel that you have more options than you imagined, wherein you may discover you in fact have the freedom to choose to adopt a new and hopefully more empowering disposition to your circumstances that can enable you to make different choices going forward

I derive immense satisfaction from seeing my clients discover, through hard work and diligent commitment to the process, not only who they are and what really matters to them, but the newfound courage and self-belief to actively take the bull by the horns and start living their life with a level of spontaneity and authenticity that they never knew they had.

About me and my therapy practice

I practice Humanistic psychotherapy that has its roots in positive psychology and the human potential movement - which in essence means I have faith in you already having all the answers you seek, and that my role is to help you find your way to a more holistic/integrated understanding of who you are and what you need - and once you have clarity about your sense of self, we can work on how best to manifest that desired reality by identifying what impedes or facilitates its emergence - such that you may live a more fulfilling and less frustrating life.

I believe that therapy is a compassionate enquiry into the Self, a reflective process that entails unpacking your experience in relation to how you think, feel and behave towards the people, events and situations you encounter in your life - as these are the keys to understanding who you are - in that they represent your Self structures (the tools for organising your experience ) and how they give meaning to your experience - which is derived from the lens through which you chose to interpret your experience.

My desire is to catalyse a felt sense of safety in relationship that allows you to come to life, to embrace uncertainty and encourage your intentionality for meaningful connection that is manifest in vitality, spontaneity and congruent connection.

And through this process of exploration you will gradually become familiar with how you make sense of your experience, and by looking at each situation from different perspectives and frames of reference - that the meaning you perceive in the events of your life need no longer be fixed and constraining but can instead be reframed as a choice that empowers you.
