I am available for sessions Monday-Friday 10.30am to 6pm.
I work face to face practice in Brighton online on Zoom offering therapy UK-wide; unfortunately, there is no step free access to building, my room is based on the second floor.
Individual therapy sessions are usually on a weekly basis at the same allotted time. Couples and relationship can vary according to your needs, but usually this work is on a fortnightly basis.
About me and my therapy practice
"It’s the relationship that heals, the relationship that heals, the relationship that heals." – Yalom
Hello, my name is Orla (they/them), and welcome.
As both a therapist and a human being, I understand how daunting it can be to take the first step towards counselling. Sometimes life leaves us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, make sense of your experience, and reconnect with yourself.
I am an integrative relational therapist, which means the therapeutic relationship sits at the heart of my work. My training is rooted in Patricia Clarkson's Relational Model, integrating psychodynamic, person-centred, humanistic, and transpersonal approaches. I have also completed additional training in Couples and Relationship Therapy using the Gestalt approach.
I practise with warmth, curiousity, creativity, and empathy. I work collaboratively and seek to reduce hierarchy wherever possible, creating a space where your experience remains central.
I am trauma-informed and believe that healing comes not from fixing or avoiding pain, but from creating enough safety for it to be understood. At the heart of my work is a belief that nothing within you is wrong; rather, parts of you may have adapted, hidden, or fragmented in order to survive. Together, we can help those parts come back into relationship, supporting greater integration, self-understanding, and freedom.
Alongside talking therapy, I may incorporate Focusing, chair work, creative expression, writing, drawing, music, and Reiki where helpful. I have worked in mental health since 2015 and have experience with organisations including Gendered Intelligence, Stonewall, Bipolar UK, The Advocacy Project, and the NHS.

Practice description
I am an integrative relational therapist working with individuals and couples. I support people experiencing anxiety, depression, shame, trauma, bereavement, addiction and recovery, neurodivergence, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, activist burnout, eco-distress, and experiences of marginalisation.
I have extensive experience working with childhood sexual abuse, narcissistic abuse, developmental and intergenerational trauma, racial trauma, and LGBTQ+ issues, including gender identity, dysphoria, and transitioning. I also support people in 12-Step recovery programmes.
I work with people who often feel in-between: between identities, roles, relationships, or different parts of themselves. This includes LGBTQ+ people, neurodivergent individuals, highly sensitive people, and others whose experiences may sit outside dominant cultural norms.
Alongside individual therapy, I offer couples and relationship therapy. I work with monogamous and ethically non-monogamous relationships, friendships, sibling relationships, and parent-child relationships. Together we can explore communication difficulties, conflict, emotional disconnection, intimacy, trust, separation, and relational repair.
Working with intersectionality and identity journeying is an area of particular passion for me. For those for whom it is meaningful, I identify as a non-binary, queer person with British and European heritage. I have AuDHD and lived experience of mental health challenges, which inform my practice and help me provide an inclusive and affirming space.
Whether you have experienced wounding in relation to your age, gender, sexuality, relationship structure, race, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, religion, class, or other aspects of identity, together we can cultivate an environment in which you can move through the fire of internalised shame and emerge into greater self-acceptance, empowerment, and pride.
My first session
Starting therapy for the first time can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel uncertain or nervous before your first session.
The initial session will be an opportunity for you to talk with me about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to explore. We will take things at your pace, and there is no expectation to share everything at once or to have it all figured out. You may wish to begin with something specific, or we may simply start by getting a sense of what feels most important for you in the room.
This first session is also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work, and for us to notice together whether it feels like a good fit to continue. If we decide to work together, we can arrange further sessions from there.
I do not offer reduced-rate initial sessions or short discovery calls, as I have found that a full 50-minute session is needed to properly begin to understand your needs and to experience the relational dynamic between us.
The initial session is charged at my standard hourly rate and lasts 50 minutes.
My individual therapy fee is on a sliding scale between £80–£120 per 50-minute session. I encourage those with wealth privilege to pay it forward where possible, in order to support greater equity of access. A number of concessionary spaces are also available for those who are not able to pay within the standard range. Please feel free to let me know what you are able to afford on a weekly basis, and we can explore what might be possible together.
For couples and relationship therapy, my fee is £120–£160 per 50-minute session on a sliding scale. After the initial session, couples work is usually contracted for six sessions at a time, subject to review. Sessions can take place weekly or fortnightly depending on what best supports the work.
Above all, I aim to offer a steady and human space where you do not need to perform or have things fully worked out. The first session is simply a place to begin.
