About me and my therapy practice

I am a person centred therapist and my work includes from a trauma informed perspective.

My work is online and by telephone and with occasional walk and talk sessions in local nature rich areas.

Practice description

I work in an organisation setting and in private practice and like to build trusting relationships in the therapy space.  Person-centred means that I work in a deeply empathic way that is non-judgmental and accepting of my clients and their experiences.  I work in a sensitive and understanding way to help clients make connections and shifts in their thinking about themselves and relationships with others.

I have experience of working with uniformed services and welcome clients from this sector.

My first session

I like to have a short phone or zoom call initially - for about 15 - 20 minutes, just for us to get a sense of each other and to decide whether we can work together.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer professional supervision for counsellors and therapists at all and particularly enjoy working with newly qualified practitioners, helping them build confidence, develop insight, and understand their own practice as they grow into skilled, reflective therapists.  My approach is supportive, reflective, and collaborative, providing a safe space to explore client work, ethical dilemmas, and professional development.

I bring extensive experience as a person-centred counsellor and also have training in CBT, including working with clients experiencing complex issues such as trauma, PTSD, anxiety, phobias, OCD, health anxiety, and depression. I bring an understanding of the variety of presentations that come into the client space and then into supervision to help you reflect safely on challenging or complex client work.

Supervision is tailored to your needs and can include case discussion, reflective practice, ethical guidance, and professional development. I encourage creative and flexible approaches, using discussion, reflective exercises, and exploratory tools to enhance insight, self-awareness, and professional growth. I also draw on my life experience across media, the arts, and education, bringing practical perspectives and fresh ways of thinking about practice.

I offer supervision online with flexible scheduling to fit your professional commitments. My goal is to provide a non-judgemental, collaborative space where you can reflect on your practice, develop your skills, and gain confidence, enabling you to provide safe, effective, and compassionate therapy to your clients, even in complex and challenging cases.

Practice description

In a supervision session with me, you can expect a supportive, confidential space where we focus on your professional growth and reflective practice. Supervision is a chance to explore your work with clients, including those with complex issues, and to think about how you respond, make decisions, and develop as a therapist.

Sessions are collaborative and tailored to you. We can look at case work, ethical questions, therapeutic techniques, or personal reactions to your clients’ experiences. I aim to help you gain clarity, confidence, and insight into your practice while encouraging you to reflect on what works for you and your clients.

I like to support professional development beyond the session, recommending relevant books, articles, or training, and helping you build a framework for ongoing growth in your practice. I also encourage creative approaches in supervision, such as reflective exercises, discussion, and exploratory tools, depending on what suits you and your learning style.

Supervision are online with flexible scheduling to fit around your work. My goal is to provide guidance, challenge, and support in equal measure—helping you develop your skills, strengthen your professional identity, and provide safe, effective, and ethical therapy to your clients.  Supervision is not always about discussing client work but can be about broader issues coming into the space or impacting you.  We can also discuss accreditation.

My first session

Your first supervision session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and agree how we will work together. We will discuss your qualifications, experience, and professional background, including your professional body membership and insurance.

We will also cover practical and professional aspects, such as how you manage client records and data, confidentiality, and any ethical considerations relevant to your practice. This session is a chance to clarify expectations, establish boundaries, and agree on the structure and focus of future supervision.

The aim is to create a safe, supportive, and collaborative space where you feel confident to explore your work, reflect on your practice, and develop your professional skills.
