About me and my therapy practice
I qualified as a counsellor over 30 years ago and have worked across a wide range of settings, including the NHS and several charities. For the past four years I have worked with a charity specialising in grief therapy.
My training covered the major counselling models, and over time I have developed an integrative approach informed by experience rather than allegiance to one school. I have extensive experience working with grief, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties and sexual issues.
I believe the foundation of effective therapy is a relationship built on trust, confidentiality and honesty. When clients feel safe enough to speak openly and think clearly, change becomes possible. My role is not to judge or direct, but to help you understand yourself more deeply and respond to your life with greater clarity and strength.
Practice description
I offer a free initial session so that we can both decide whether we feel comfortable working together. Finding the right therapeutic fit matters.
I am based in Cellardyke, Anstruther, Fife, and offer sessions in person, as well as via Google Meet or telephone.
I provide both short-term, focused work and longer-term, exploratory therapy. Most clients attend weekly sessions, although we can agree on a different arrangement if that better suits your circumstances.
My first session
I do not charge for the first session.
This initial meeting is an opportunity for both of us to ask questions and to consider whether we would feel comfortable working together. The therapeutic relationship is important, and it is worth taking the time to see if it feels right.
I will be interested in understanding what has brought you to counselling at this point in your life, and what you hope might change or become clearer through our work together.
