Availability

I offer therapy to individuals and couples in Felixstowe, Suffolk, on a weekly or fortnightly basis, depending on availability. Sessions are available in person or via Zoom if this suits you. My working days are Monday to Friday, with limited evening appointments available from 5:30pm.

My counselling room is located on the first floor of my home and is accessed by stairs. I work from home as I find it offers a calm, comfortable and contained space for therapeutic work. If access may be difficult for you, please let me know and we can consider alternative arrangements. I also offer a small number of home visits where appropriate — please ask if this would be helpful.

Living and working in a small town, I understand how important privacy is. Confidentiality is central to my work, and you can feel assured that our sessions are handled with complete discretion and professional care.

If you are considering starting therapy, please feel free to get in touch. I aim to respond within 48 hours during working days. If I am unable to answer your call, you are welcome to leave a voicemail with your contact details and suitable times for me to return your call.

Our initial meeting lasts 90 minutes and is £70. This gives us time to begin without rush and to explore what has brought you to therapy.

Individual therapy is £50 for 60 minutes. I also offer 90-minute sessions at £70. For some clients, 60 minutes does not feel sufficient, and I am happy to offer longer sessions — please let me know if this would suit you.

Couples counselling is 90 minutes as standard and is £70 per session.

If you would like to enquire about current availability, I would be happy to discuss possible appointment times with you. And if you feel I may not be the right therapist for you, I sincerely wish you well in finding the support that feels right for your journey.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, so you've decided you might want to come for therapy..

Clients ask why I chose to be a talking therapist. I chose my profession because all of us have been on a journey, and mine began to heal 45 years ago when I entered therapy. I continue to learn and grow each day, and I know from personal experience the transformative nature of therapy.

With 25 years of experience as a mentor and therapist, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, each facing unique challenges. My approach is rooted in empathy and understanding, allowing me to create a safe space where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and emotions.

Over the years, I have guided people through a myriad of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and personal development. This extensive experience has equipped me with a versatile toolkit of therapeutic techniques, enabling me to tailor my approach to meet the specific needs of each individual.

Throughout my career, I have witnessed the profound impact that effective mentorship and therapy can have on a person's life. I believe in the importance of fostering resilience and empowering clients to take charge of their own narratives.

My role is not just to provide support, but to encourage self-discovery and growth. Whether working with individuals, couples,  my goal is to facilitate meaningful change, helping clients to navigate their challenges and ultimately lead more fulfilling lives. Each story I encounter enriches my understanding of the human experience, reinforcing my commitment to this vital work

I do understand that counselling can be a daunting process, especially if this is your first time engaging with talking therapy.

We will work at your pace and  together we will gently explore what it is you are looking to achieve by entering the therapeutic process.

Therapy is not just what we work on in our sessions, it's how you gently change and work through issues between them.

Practice description

Who I Work With & How I Work

I work with a varied client base, supporting individuals and couples at different stages of life. Some people come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed or unsure why certain patterns keep repeating. Others arrive with something specific they would like to address. Wherever you find yourself, we begin there.

I am an integrative and relational therapist. This means I draw from a range of counselling approaches and tailor the work to the person in front of me. I believe the relationship we build together is central to meaningful change, offering a safe and respectful space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly.

Our sessions may involve looking at past experiences and how they continue to influence the present. I work sensitively with trauma and at a pace that feels manageable and safe.

Alongside deeper exploration, I also use solution-focused and reframing approaches, helping you recognise strengths, shift perspective and move towards practical, achievable change.

I support clients experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, life transitions, trauma, grief and loss, questions of identity and feelings of being stuck.

I also work with older adults in their own homes or care settings, offering steady and compassionate support around ageing, health changes and loneliness.

With couples, I provide a balanced and thoughtful space to strengthen communication, rebuild understanding or navigate separation with care.

Above all, I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can speak freely.

Therapy is time that is entirely yours.

Therapy has also played an important role in my own life. I understand personally how valuable it can be to have a safe space to reflect, grow and make sense of difficult experiences. That understanding is one of the reasons I chose this profession and remain deeply committed to the work I do.

My first session

So, what to expect from our inital session together.

If you have not had therapy in the past, I will hopefully be able to answer your questions as to why I might be able to help.

I offer a free 15 minute telephone session to discuss your needs and your expectation of therapy. So please call and leave a message requesting a return call and what times are good for you.

Or email me at Deborahlynchtherapy@gmail.com

Our initial 90 minute appointment will be for us to get to know each other better, for you to ask any questions you may have of me, and the way I work.

I will be interested as to why you feel the need to come for therapy, and how you envisage us working together, and what outcome you are looking for.

It always helps to know what you want your outcome to be at the end of our therapeutic journey together.

If you do decide to come, it would be helpful for you to have spent time really thinking through any issues you feel you need to address, it can be overwhelming to be asked what is it you need on an initial visit. So maybe jot down these reasons before you come.

I am lucky enough to be able to work from home. My counselling room is a safe, calming space for us to work together.

I will need to complete a contact with you, so a list of any medications would be useful with the name and address of your GP.

We can discuss how many sessions you feel you might like, some clients prefer to come weekly or fortnightly.

I would suggest weekly for at least the first few sessions in order for us to build up a safe therapeutic relationship.

I understand that coming to therapy can feel vulnerable. You may feel anxious, unsure or even doubtful about where to begin. That is completely okay. You do not need to arrive with the right words or a clear plan. We begin gently, wherever you are.

My role is to offer steady support, thoughtful listening and a space where you can feel accepted without judgement.

I look forward to hearing from you if you feel I might be the right therapist for you.
