Currently taking on new clients.About me and my therapy practice
Have you been suffering from depression and anxiety? Do you feel your life has become stuck in repeating patterns or behaviours that are affecting your life? Have you been struggling with your relationships, or have you suffered a recent loss?
You may want to explore your thoughts and feelings in a warm and secure environment.
I am a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist and supervisor. I have extensive experience in private practice, the charitable sector, and the NHS.
I work using a psychodynamic approach, which means we will explore links between your past and present to better understand the roots of your difficulties, not just the symptoms.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy can help you to make lasting changes to your relationships and emotional well-being. It brings awareness and understanding to the issues you are struggling with, to understand why you feel the way you do, or why relationships have taken a particular form.
Greater self-awareness can lead to more satisfying ways of being and relating. It can also help with sudden challenges in life such as loss and bereavement.
Starting counselling or psychotherapy is a big step, and finding a therapist who feels right for you is important.
Counselling is about finding a safe and containing space to explore together whatever is concerning you. It is a chance to work collaboratively to make sense of painful or difficult feelings and, from there, make a change.
Practice description
I run a private practice in the heart of Islington (a ten-minute walk from Angel station), as well as online. I offer a warm, compassionate approach to exploring the issues you find challenging.
Training, qualifications, and experience:
• BA (Hons) Psychology
• MSc Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy
• Trained as a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist at Birkbeck, University of London
• PGDip in psychodynamic clinical supervision
• Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)
• Experience working in the NHS, private practice, and charitable sector.
My first session
Send me an email, and I will get back to you as soon as possible to arrange a 10-minute initial phone call.
This could be followed by a 50-minute initial meeting where we will decide whether psychodynamic psychotherapy is appropriate for you and whether we feel we might work well together. The rate for this is the same as the rate for a session.
If we decide to continue, we will meet weekly for 50 minutes at the same time and day.
