Availability
During the current Covid Pandemic I am working online offering sessions via Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp and other platforms. This offers clients maximum flexibility in terms of my availability during office hours, evenings and weekends and allows me to work with a wider range of clients in the UK and abroad. As the limitations are relaxed I will renew face-to-face sessions in Strathaven, Glasgow and Edinburgh
About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified therapist with a Masters’ degree in counselling (2016) and a COSCA validated Diploma in Counselling (2015) from the University of Edinburgh. I am also a registered member with the BACP, a Practice Member of COSCA and hold a current PVG.
I have worked in the addiction field as a specialist therapist at Castle Craig Hospital, and in addition to working privately, I have provided counselling for NHS Scotland patients and for service users with Third Sector organisations.
My degree provided me with a solid training in Person Centred Counselling and Psychodynamic Counselling, however I am also familiar with more directive approaches using CBT and DBT skills and enjoy developing a creative partnership with clients employing Psycho-drama techniques where appropriate.
Practice description
I have lived experience of recovery from addiction and personal experience of autism within the family, and am very comfortable offering therapeutic support on these two issues.
However my experience within NHS Scotland and the Third Sector have allowed me to work with clients from different age groups and cultures, presenting with issues ranging from anxiety, depression and bereavement through relationship and work place stress.
I like to focus on a specific issue, initially for the first six sessions and then review with the client how we might continue after those meetings. I believe fundamentally, that given a sympathetic environment and a supportive relationship, most people seeking help are able to identify the direction and time-scale of their journey.
My first session
- For new clients I offer an initial 30-minute informal, online or telephone session free of charge, which allows you to ask further questions about how the relationship works and confirmation that I can help you with your goals
