About me and my therapy practice

Do you feel like no one understands you?

Maybe you're tired of explaining how you feel, only to be told that things aren't that bad.

Maybe you're angry that your life isn't where you thought it would be. Angry that others seem to be moving forward while you feel stuck.

Or perhaps you're exhausted from overthinking, worrying and trying to keep others happy while struggling yourself.

You might wake up feeling weighed down by everything in your head. You might be getting on with life – work, university, friends, laughing, telling people you're okay – but underneath, you know you're not.

Maybe you feel lost or don't recognise yourself anymore. You may feel like you're failing because you haven't figured life out yet.

You may feel invisible in your own life.

Perhaps the hardest part is that nobody knows how much you're struggling.

You don't have to feel this way.

You don't need everything worked out before counselling. You don't even need to know exactly what's wrong. You can come as you are.

I'll listen without judgement and take time to understand you, rather than making assumptions about how you should feel or cope.

I'm an accredited counsellor with experience supporting young people and young adults aged 16–29. Growing into adulthood hasn't been easy. COVID disrupted plans, opportunities and milestones, leaving many trying to find their way in an uncertain world.

But I don't want to reduce you to your age or label. I want to know you.

I bring my humanity to each session. We'll work together to explore what's happening and what you want to change. Sometimes we'll focus on change; sometimes you'll need more time and space to explore what you've been through. We'll find what works for you.

My hope is that you'll feel more comfortable in yourself, understand yourself better and feel more able to move forward.

If you're reading this thinking, “This sounds like me,” perhaps it's time to talk.

You don't have to know what to say.

You can just get in touch.

We'll start there.

Practice description

Perhaps you've been thinking about counselling for a while.

You've looked at different profiles and wondered whether you should get in touch. Maybe reaching out feels like a lot.

You might be worried about what you'll be asked, what you'll have to talk about, or whether someone will really understand you.

Perhaps you're wondering, “What if I open up and they don't get me?” Or, “What if I don't even know how to explain what's wrong?”

You don't have to have the answers before you come.

Finding the right counsellor matters. You need to feel comfortable, heard and able to be yourself without feeling judged. I encourage you to speak to counsellors until you find someone you feel a connection with. Therapy is personal, and the relationship matters.

If you choose me, my aim is to offer support that is genuinely tailored to you.

I want you to feel seen, heard and able to be yourself.

I'll work alongside you, rather than telling you what you should do. We'll take time to understand what's happening for you and, when it feels right, I may gently challenge thoughts, beliefs or behaviours you have carried from your younger years.

Sometimes the ways we learnt to cope when we were younger were exactly what we needed at the time. But as we grow, those ways of coping can stop working for us. You may find yourself repeating patterns without understanding why.

You may be hard on yourself, struggle to trust others, put others' needs before your own, or react in ways that leave you wondering, “Why did I do that?”

Together, we can make sense of those patterns rather than judging you for them.

My hope is that therapy can help you feel less trapped by the pain you're experiencing and move towards something different: greater self-awareness, a healthier relationship with yourself and others, more confidence in who you are and what you need, and a more fulfilling life.

You don't have to figure it out before you contact me.

We can take the first step together.

My first session

So, what happens if you decide to get in touch?

First of all, don't worry about knowing what to say.

You don't need to write me a long explanation of everything that's happening or have it all figured out before you contact me. Just reaching out is enough.

Once I receive your enquiry, I'll get in touch with you to arrange a convenient time for us to have a chat on the phone.

This first conversation gives us both an opportunity to talk a little about what's bringing you to counselling and what you're hoping might change.

It also gives you the chance to get a feel for me.

Because finding the right counsellor really does matter. You need to feel comfortable with the person you're going to share some of your most personal thoughts and feelings with. I want you to have the opportunity to decide whether I'm the right person for you too.

If we decide to work together, our second session will be a 50-minute assessment, either online or in person.

This isn't about judging you or deciding whether you're “doing therapy right.” It's simply a chance for me to get to know you a little better and understand what's been happening for you, so that I can make sure I'm able to offer you the right support.

We'll also start to think about what you'd like to get from counselling.

Perhaps there's something specific you want to change. Perhaps you just know that you don't want to keep feeling the way you do now.

Either is absolutely fine.

We'll agree some initial goals together, so that we have a sense of where we're heading. But therapy isn't a rigid process, and neither are you. As we get to know each other and you begin to understand yourself more, those goals may change too.

You don't have to know where this journey will take you.

We'll work that out together.

Availability

I currently have space available for online supervision.  I am able to have some flexibility on times of the day and days of the week, so i would suggest that it might be helpful if you can get in touch and we can discuss what you need further.

About me and my therapy practice

In my role as a counsellor, over the years, I have worked with children, young people, adults, and older adults across a range of settings. My experience includes both employed and self-employed roles, working in different settings including school environments and within the NHS. This breadth of experience allows me to bring a rich and practical understanding to the supervisory space, offering informed support to you and your work with clients.

I gain so much from my own supervision and consider it a deeply valuable part of my professional life. It’s a genuine privilege to offer supervision to others, and I approach this role with respect, care, and a commitment to your growth as a practitioner.

Practice description

I offer supervision from a person-centred stance, grounded in the core conditions of empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. My approach honours your autonomy as a practitioner while providing a collaborative and reflective space in which you can deepen your understanding, explore challenges, and develop your therapeutic practice.

I believe effective supervision is built on trust, openness, and mutual respect. Whether you're in training, newly qualified, or an experienced therapist, I aim to support your growth and well-being, helping you to stay aligned with your values and ethical responsibilities. I hold a deep respect for the personal and professional journeys that therapists bring to supervision, and I work relationally to foster a space where you feel safe to be curious, creative, and honest.

I have experience supervising practitioners working with adults, and diverse client groups across private practice, education. I welcome supervisees from all modalities who appreciate or are open to a relational, person-centred foundation.

Areas of interest include:

Working with trauma and complex grief

Therapist self-care and resilience

Ethical dilemmas and boundary issues

Developing reflective practice

I offer supervision online. Please feel free to contact me for an initial conversation about your needs and to explore whether we might work well together.

My first session

Our first supervision session will include an informal assessment, giving us both the opportunity to get to know each other and explore what you’re looking for from supervision. This helps me understand what’s important to you in your work as a counsellor—your approach, where you are in your professional development, and the kind of support you might need from me.

Equally, it gives you a chance to get a sense of who I am and whether I feel like the right fit for you—someone you feel comfortable enough with to share the complexities and nuances of your client work. Building a safe, respectful, and collaborative relationship is at the heart of how I work, and our first meeting is a valuable first step in that process.
