Availability and Therapeutic Environment

I offer a flexible approach to scheduling sessions, ensuring that our appointments can be tailored to suit your individual needs and budget. From the outset, you are welcome to specify the number of sessions you would like, as well as the frequency and flexibility that best fits your circumstances. If you wish, you can identify particular areas to prioritise, allowing us to remain focused and make meaningful progress even within a small number of sessions. For some, a single session can be valuable and beneficial.

Sessions take place in a comfortable, inspiring setting that is entirely free from intrusion, distraction, and interruption. Many clients have commented on how relaxing and safe the space feels, providing a welcoming environment to reflect on and consider your experiences. This supportive atmosphere is designed to nurture hope, possibility, and resilience, supporting your personal growth.

Confidentiality is guaranteed at all times.

I am available to work with clients both on a short-term and long-term basis, depending on what is most appropriate for you.

Currently, I have availability for in-person appointments.

Counselling trainees are welcome.

I am a recognised therapist for BUPA.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a validated and accredited therapist with substantial experience in working with clients from a trauma-informed perspective. Throughout my practice, I have supported individuals who have presented with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, family estrangement—of which I have personal experience—complex family dynamics, relationship difficulties, dissociation, abuse, and adverse childhood experiences. Clients have also sought support for traumatic past events, work-related stress, struggles with identity and life purpose, bereavement, chronic grief, and many other challenges.

Understanding Life’s Challenges

When life becomes overwhelming, it is entirely normal to feel confused and disorientated. Many people find themselves spending considerable time trying to understand feelings of unhappiness, destructive behaviours, and recurring patterns in relationships. You may notice unexplained symptoms such as panic attacks, difficulty sleeping, or a lack of motivation and fulfilment at work. It is common to feel stuck, as though things that once brought pleasure now seem pointless and burdensome.

Therapeutic Approach and Client Experience

Clients have often expressed relief in simply having the space to speak openly and impartially, with empathy and without being met with immediate solutions. Through our work together, I help you develop greater awareness and, when appropriate, gently challenge your thinking. I may invite you to reconsider situations, encouraging deeper insight and the possibility of seeing things from a fresh perspective. In this way, solutions tend to emerge naturally, and you may find yourself making different choices as a result.

Outcomes and Lasting Change

At the conclusion of therapy, many clients have shared that they found the experience not only beneficial but genuinely transformative in bringing about meaningful changes in their lives.

Practice description

Professional Background and Approach

I am trained in the humanistic tradition, which means I prioritise working collaboratively and respectfully from your perspective. This approach is particularly effective for addressing a wide range of life challenges, as it centres on your unique experiences and values. My practice is both thriving and well-established, underpinned by professionalism, experience, and confidence in supporting you as you express what you are going through.

In our sessions, you are given the opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in your own way, free from judgement. This space allows you to make sense of the issues you are facing, fostering self-understanding and personal growth.

Qualifications and Ongoing Professional Development

I consistently engage in professional development to ensure I remain informed about the latest research and best practice in counselling. Staying current with developments in the field is essential for any therapist, and it is something I am deeply committed to.

Alongside my counselling practice, I’m an academic researcher specialising in women’s lived experiences of midlife. This work continually enriches my therapeutic perspective, reminding me of the complexity, resilience, and depth that shape our inner worlds. Whether I’m in the therapy room or immersed in research, I’m guided by curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to ethical, reflective practice.

My first session

What to Expect When You Get in Touch

When you first enquire about counselling, I will ensure you receive a warm welcome and a prompt response. Once we have agreed on an appointment, I will share further information about how counselling with me works.

Before our first meeting, I will ask you for a few brief details about your background, what has brought you to seek counselling, and what you hope to achieve during our sessions together. This initial exchange is designed to help you gain clarity on your expectations and what you wish to gain from counselling.

At the start of our first session, we will take time to discuss any remaining questions or concerns you may have. From there, and entirely at your own pace, we will begin the therapeutic work together.

I assure you of my absolute best attention at all times. I warmly welcome your enquiry.
