About me and my therapy practice

SESSIONS FROM £25 with a very experienced online/telephone therapist! First 30 minute session free of charge.

I have 21 years' wide ranging experience within several clinical areas of the NHS and in Independent practice.

Previous client have appreciated my acceptance of whatever they say to me as well as my kindness towards them.

I am here to provide you with the opportunity to talk freely, to feel properly met and understood.

You don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about, or where it might lead. Knowing that you'd like to talk is enough to take the first step.

‘It’s never too late to be what you might have been’ George Eliot

‘There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in’ L.Cohen

So, why contact me?

  • I’ve had to heal from my own emotional harm after emerging from a difficult family upbringing and also having to move on from a high-demand, Hell-based fundamentalist religious environment - as well as making my own challenging decisions around relationships and other issues later in life.
  • I am a highly experienced therapist in practice as a qualified counsellor for over 21 years. I have seen people for short-term therapy (6 to 10 sessions) and long-term (over ten years, in one case).
  • I am a Religious Trauma Specialist and also Parents Of Adult Children Specialist as well as being a Generalist Counsellor assisting with family/relationship issues, anxiety and depression.
  • I communicate with clients in a clear and direct way in a spirit of honesty and kindness in order to increase your own ‘light’ - awareness of your potentials and possibilities as well as any pitfalls and precipices.
  • I enjoy working with creativity and imagination, where appropriate.
  • I enjoy sharing a therapeutic and humanistic perspective with other people, for people to regain contact with their life-energy and their own personal power, their hopes and life-dreams, their inner light.

Practice description

  •  I am a graduate with a post-graduate diploma in Humanistic/Gestalt counselling with additional experience on a psychotherapy training course (with a mindfulness/Buddhist orientation) for two years. I'm also conversant with IFS (Internal Family Systems) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)

Accessible Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy | £25 per session | free introductory session

Free introductory session : 30 minutes, with no obligation to continue.

Subsequent sessions: 30 minutes — £25 per session (weekly/fortnightly to begin with) or £45-50 for 50 minutes.

Short sessions suit some people better than others, we will talk together about whether this format is appropriate in your circumstances.

TRAINEE THERAPIST CONCESSIONS ALSO AVAILABLE: £40 - 50 minutes

Life is, amongst other things, demanding and confusing, and it is so easy to become entangled in unhealthy situations and relationships: we are ‘thrown into life’ and then often blown and buffeted around as we make our way through the challenges of such things as relationships, employment and health problems whilst enmeshed in local, national and world issues. We then all too easily end up focusing on blaming ourselves!!!

Counselling offers the opportunity to press pause, take refuge and review and process who you are and what you want for your present and future.

I want to see people as individuals without labels, responding by being open and accepting and also active and involved, as appropriate. I enjoy working in-depth therapeutically.

I am particularly interested in providing help around:

  • Assisting others to move on from inherited, dogmatic and/or oppressive belief systems to which they may belong or from the effects of such beliefs they have had in the past (known as religious trauma).
  • low self-esteem and lack of direction;
  • rejuvenating healthy relationships and moving on from unhealthy relationships;
  • Providing support for parents of grown-up offspring.

My first session

MY EXPERIENCE:

  • working as a qualified counsellor includes running a therapy service for several years at a G.P. surgery.
  • Counselling clients with debilitating long term health problems within an NHS hospital Pain Clinic.
  • I received counselling referrals for the Meningitis Trust as part of my independent counselling practice.
  • Previous career in legal advice work including several years as a national trainer in the field.
  • I have professional and personal experience of coping with long-term health conditions and reconstruction after indoctrination as well as with parenting, including step-families.
  • a parent of children and adult children

I am not a member of any organized (or disorganized) religion although in the past I have belonged to Christian (as a child), Buddhist and Quaker groups, as well as having several years training in Buddhist psychotherapy. I acknowledge people’s choices around belief and unbelief and do not impose any of my own views on others.

I am very open to feedback about my work and I respect your right to begin and end therapy when you want; healthy endings are normally mutual, conscious and planned.

Thank you very much for reading my profile, please feel free to make contact with me to explore the possibility of working with me.

I wish you happiness, purposefulness and prosperity with your life.

  • low self-esteem and lack of direction;
  • rejuvenating healthy relationships and moving on from unhealthy relationships;
  • Providing support for parents of grown-up offspring.

MY EXPERIENCE:

over 20 year experience as a therapist

‘Trauma is not what happens to us but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness’. Peter Levine

‘Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who have a problem with it don't matter, and those who matter don't have a problem with it.

Be who you are and then you will see who you are and how you are.

Allow yourself a moment or two to do what you want to do and discover what you are actually doing.

Take a little risk if you can.

Feel your own feelings.

Speak your own words.

Think your own thoughts.

Be yourself. Explore.

Plan your development by experiencing yourself.’ F.Perls
