About me and my therapy practice

Hello my name is Susan, welcome to my profile.

At times life can become overwhelming, and things might be difficult to manage. This can leave us with a feeling of disconnect, and it may be a challenge to make sense of these emotions, and limit our ability to make clear choices.

Counselling can offer a safe space to explore these feelings, without opinion or judgment. My aim will be to work with you, to process whatever is going on for you. This may be healing from recent or past experiences, and observing how these experiences impact you now and the way you are living/feeling in the present. We will work together in the hope that we can discover the best path forward.

I am an experienced Humanistic counsellor working with both adults and children. I have trained in the person centred approach, this means that you the client are always at the centre of the work. I will offer, a completely confidential, accepting space and you will be treated with warmth, empathy, and respect. My own experience has taught me that the counselling relationship is a vital part of the work.

I currently run a private practise in Waltham Abbey, I have created a therapeutic space at the end of my garden for you to come and relax share what might be troubling you. I have many years of experience working with clients of many different backgrounds, and life experiences.   I also work as a school counsellor in large inclusive, culturally diverse secondary school in Outer London for children ages 11 – 18 with a variety of issues.  I am always undertaking additional training to support my work, and keep my practise up to date. I have an enhanced DBS certificate, and have training in child protection and safeguarding.

Practice description

Over the years I have become very flexible in my ways of working, I will support you in your own way of being and feeling, and I will always adapt to the best needs of each individual. Talking can help, and I may use other therapies to complement our work together such as, CBT, Mindfulness, Art and Play Therapy depending on client preferences. I have an incredibly empathetic cavapoo named Teddy who can join us in sessions, or for a walk on request if suitable.

As a committed member of the BACP, I adhere to a code of conduct and ethical practise, and have regular supervision. I am fully insured to practice.
