About me and my therapy practice
People often come to therapy when something in their emotional life or relationships feels difficult to manage. This might be intense or confusing emotions, behavioural patterns that feel hard to change, ongoing relationship difficulties, or a sense of being stuck despite effort or insight.
I am a BACP-accredited psychotherapist with a background in psychology and extensive experience working with adults in both private practice and specialist clinical settings. Alongside private practice, I continue to work within hospital and specialist mental health services, supporting people with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
Many of the people I work with are functioning well on the outside, but struggling internally — feeling overwhelmed, reactive, numb, or caught in patterns they don’t fully understand. Others come because relationships feel strained, trust has been damaged, or life has reached a point where something needs careful attention.
My aim is to offer a space that feels calm, thoughtful, and human, where difficult experiences can be explored safely and at a pace that feels manageable.
My professional training includes a BA (Hons) in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy, and postgraduate diplomas in Counselling & Psychotherapy and in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred) and an Accredited Member of the Society for Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (MSfDBT Accred).
Practice description
My approach to therapy is integrative and tailored, shaped by formal training and accreditation in both humanistic and behavioural approaches.
As a psychotherapist trained and accredited in both humanistic and behavioural approaches, I’m able to work integratively from a position of depth rather than simply drawing on isolated techniques. This allows me to move flexibly between relational, exploratory work and more structured, practical approaches, depending on what is most helpful for you.
Depending on your needs, therapy may involve exploring past and present experiences, understanding emotional and relational patterns, developing psychological skills, or finding new ways of relating to yourself and others.
For some people, therapy is mainly reflective and relational. For others, it is more structured and practical. We shape the work together so that it supports meaningful and lasting change.
I work with individuals and couples. Sessions take place online or in my private consulting room in Guildford.
My first session
Starting therapy can feel daunting. Before arranging a first session, we usually have a brief introductory call to talk about what’s bringing you and what you’re hoping for. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of whether working together feels right.
In the first session, we’ll explore your current difficulties, relevant background, and what you would like from therapy. We’ll begin to build a shared understanding of what’s happening for you and discuss how we might work together going forward.
Some people come with a clear focus; others simply know that something isn’t working. Both are welcome.
What I can help with
Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, AIDS/HIV, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Business coaching, Cancer, Career coaching, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Development coaching, Disability, Executive coaching, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, Leadership coaching, Life coaching, Loss, Men's issues, Mood disorder, Neurodiversity, Obsessions, OCD, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Service veterans, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
