About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP-accredited Integrative EMDR and DIT Therapist specialising in relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and childhood trauma. I work primarily from a psychodynamic and relational perspective, with a focus on helping you better understand yourself, your relationships and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I am trained in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I have worked under NHS contracts, in third sector spaces, and women’s services.
My aim is to offer a calm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is happening for you at a pace that feels right. You may come to therapy with a particular goal, or simply with a sense that something feels difficult, heavy or needs to change. We can work together to make sense of your experiences and help you feel less alone.
My approach is thoughtful, compassionate and collaborative. I won't tell you how you should feel or make any assumptions. Instead, we will work together to understand what is happening beneath the surface, build greater self-awareness and create space for change.
Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT):
I trained in DIT at the Anna Freud Centre in London. DIT is a structured, short-term psychodynamic therapy, typically delivered over 16 sessions. It focuses on understanding the relationship between emotional difficulties and recurring patterns in our relationships, both past and present.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR):
I completed my EMDR training with EMDR Academy in York. EMDR is an evidence-based psychological therapy used to support people experiencing trauma and PTSD. It can also help individuals process distressing experiences that continue to affect their self-esteem, emotional wellbeing and relationships.
Practice description
Therapy is a collaborative process, built on trust, curiosity and connection.
I recognise that opening up to someone new can feel daunting, particularly if you’ve experienced difficult relationships, trauma or times when you haven’t felt heard or understood.
I work at your pace, offering a balance of compassion, reflection and gentle challenge where appropriate.
Some of the difficulties I work with include:
Anxiety, depression and emotional distress
Low self-esteem, self-criticism and feelings of shame
Childhood experiences and attachment difficulties
Domestic abuse and the impact of unhealthy relationships
Trauma and PTSD
Loss, life transitions and difficulties with identity or self-worth
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation, so we can discuss what's brought you to therapy, and if my therapy practice is a good fit.
In our first therapy session we will explore more into your goals, focus of sessions, and go through the therapeutic contract.
