Well done for looking for therapy and for looking at my profile, I don't yet know what brought you here but well done for taking the first step to changing your life.  Taking a step into therapy is the best thing you could do to change your life. We will look at practical ways of coping with your feelings, understanding where they come from and giving you the ability to take control of the aspects of your life that are causing anxiety or depression.

I am more forthright than a lot of therapists and will help you get to where you need to be in a supportive and sometimes challenging way.

I am a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor based in Wellington, Somerset. I offer face to face and virtual counselling to adults that is tailored according to your needs. I have over 35 years of experience in helping people in crisis and with anxiety, depression, low mood, low self esteem, relationship issues, attachment issues, childhood trauma and bullying, self-harm/suicidal thoughts, addictions, loss and complex grief.

I am also a qualified REWIND practitioner and have helped clients who were suffering from PTSD to stop the flashbacks in addition to being a qualified Internal Family Systems (IFS) practitioner.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), fully insured and supervised.

I have a full adult and child enhanced DBS checks.

I believe that the relationship between the client and counsellor is the most important aspect of counselling and no matter how good the counsellor is if the client does not feel safe, held and understood then they will not benefit from counselling.

I create the environment for a therapeutic relationship to flourish in a positive way, this encourages my clients to build trust and allows us to explore issues that they are finding it hard to reveal to others or themselves.

Please feel free to contact me for an informal discussion about counselling and my approach to see if this is the right "fit" for you.

About me and my therapy practice

As an integrativly trained therapist I listen to the client closely and ascertain what approach to therapy is best suited to their life, needs and way of life.  I then provide a space where insight and understanding is attained before gently challenging ways of being and historic responses to allow them to be changed and modified in order to achieve the change the client is looking for.

I use a range of techniques to provide the insight and healing the client needs.

Practice description

I gently but firmly hold the client as they feel thier way through whatever they are concerned about.  Sometimes sessions and times between sessions are hard, facing the things that have happened in our lives or are playing out at in the present tense is hard and comes with some emotional pain.  We will go through this gently, together and with enough courage to revolve the issues that you have been struggling with.

My first session

First sessions tend to be a download of your history at a high level and subsequent sessions unpick the issues that we uncover, bit by bit, at your pace.  Expect time to download, unburden initially then a session about context clarification and themes for the journey to be identified.  Check in's at about 6-8 session in to ensure we are on track

Practice description

I am a qualified integrative counsellor based in Wellington, Somerset. I offer face to face, virtual and phone counselling to adults according to their needs.

I have years of experience of helping people cope with coming to terms with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, loss and feelings of low self worth.

I offer a forthright approach to therapy and help clients with coping strategies and support when identifying the things that influence their lives.

I believe that good therapy takes some of the weight from the client and provides them some respite so they can take a breath, deepen their understanding and become stronger in order to take back control of their futures. A strong and trusting therapeutic relationship with your counsellor is the most important aspect of the therapy and is something I pride myself on being able to deliver for all my clients.

I am a qualified REWIND therapist and can help those suffering from intrusive and traumatic flashbacks.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), fully insured and supervised. I have a full adult and child enhanced DBS checks and have been in practise in Somerset since 2018. Please feel free to contact me for an informal discussion about counselling and my approach, to see if this is the right "fit" for you.

My first session

Our first session will be more exploratory so I  can get to know you more and to understand the headlines of what you are facing in life.  Where appropriate we will create coping strategies in order to help you stabalise before uncovering where the work needs to be done.  The first session sometimes involves a "download" from the client and then planning which parts needs processing first.  This can come as a huge relief.

I do not complete any forms or assessments but at the end of the session we will agree where you want therapy to take you and the initial steps of working towards that goal.

We will review after 6-8 sessions to make sure we now where we are progressing and what benefit you are seeing from the work you will be doing.

Please drop me a line if you want to know more about what to expect from your first session.
