About me and my therapy practice
Perhaps you feel stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected from yourself or from the people around you. Maybe you are struggling to make sense of things that have happened to you, a relationship, a choice you have made, or simply the direction your life is taking. Sometimes we feel that something is not right without clarity about what can or needs to change.
I am a humanistic psychotherapeutic counsellor with over 10,000 hours of practice. I offer a non-judgemental and inclusive practice and am LGBTQI+ ND affirmative. I see neurodiversity as a difference, not a disorder. I see my role as a confidential companion to clients for a small part of their journey.
I provide a space where you can slow down, explore what is happening and make more sense and meaning of things. I believe people have a capacity for growth and change, and that each of us has our own path to cut through the woods.
I work in an experiential, Person-Centred and relational way. I follow your lead on the content and look after the process, while remaining curious about what you are experiencing in the moment. What happens between therapist and client can itself be helpful in making sense of what is happening outside therapy. We may pay attention to feelings, thoughts, relational ways of being and the felt sense of what is happening. I believe many people have more internal resources than they realise.
I believe experience is our great teacher, yet some experiences may teach us that we are not okay. We can then adopt ways of behaving that feel inauthentic, leaving us unseen and feeling alone. Therapy can provide an opportunity to develop greater authenticity and find new possibilities for living in the present.
Practice description
I take a non-judgemental, relational, holistic approach, which is alive to all aspects of self and factors outside self; supporting a person’s forward momentum in simply being a person. I believe the body keeps the score and we all have experiential resources that can tell us more than we think. This approach is a gentle process that follows the client’s lead as to what is discussed, that is curious about felt senses and learning from what we are experiencing in the here and now.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute consultation (via Zoom or Telephone) for people to confidentially discuss the expectations for counselling; and whether we feel it is good to enter the process together.
I ask for £50 for a 50 minute consultation in person (Brighton or Lewes).
