About me and my therapy practice

If you’re at a point where things can’t stay the same, but you’re not yet sure what comes next, I can support you with this.

You might not have the words for it yet—just a sense that something isn’t working as it once did. Perhaps you’re navigating a time of transition or noticing patterns in your relationships that keep repeating and no longer feel helpful.

My work is grounded in a person-centred approach, where you are at the heart of the process, and shaped by a systemic understanding of how our experiences are influenced by the relationships and contexts we are part of. With over 25 years’ experience working alongside adolescents, adults and families, I aim to offer a space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment.

Sometimes what feels like a problem is part of a story that hasn’t yet been fully heard or made sense of.

My Practice includes both short- and longer-term counselling, with particular experience in working alongside those navigating historic and complex life experiences, family relationships with adolescent children, and neurodiversity.

Practice description

All enquiries about counselling are welcome, recognising that finding the right therapeutic relationship is important and something that can be explored together in an initial reduced-fee introductory session.

I have experience across clinical, community, and supported living environments. This involved working with individuals whose lives have been shaped by disruption, uncertainty, or marginalisation. This continues to inform a calm, thoughtful, and consistent approach, where care, respect, and genuine understanding remain central.

Support is also offered to families who may be struggling in their relationships with older children and adolescents. This can include situations where a young person is experiencing depression, self-harm, emotional distress, or behavioural and conduct-related difficulties.

The impact on parents and carers can feel overwhelming and emotionally exhausting at times. Sessions aim to provide a supportive and compassionate space where difficulties can be explored safely.

In helping families to better understand what may be happening beneath the surface, together we consider ways to improve communication, connection, and emotional well-being within the family. Due to the complexity of working with multiple perspectives, this particular way of working is charged at £90 per hour

Work is also offered with individuals who identify as neurodivergent — whether diagnosed, self-identifying, or exploring this later in life — as well as men, trans and non-binary people included, seeking a safe, non-judgmental space for reflection and support.

In addition, support is available for individuals exploring the impact of childhood separation from family, while recognising that this is not a specialist adoption-focused service.

A supportive space is also offered for veterans whose experiences have been shaped by military service, including its impact on identity, relationships, and transition into civilian life.

My first session

In our first session together, I offer a reduced fee of 50%. I hope this creates a relaxed and welcoming space where we can take our time getting to know one another, explore what has brought you to therapy, and think about what you may need from the process.

This first meeting is also an opportunity to see what it's like to work with me. Feeling safe, comfortable, and understood is an important part of therapy, and I believe it is important that we both have the chance to reflect on whether we feel like a good fit.

If it feels helpful, we may use a simple assessment measure to gain a clearer picture of how things are for you at the moment. This is always collaborative and only something we would do if you feel it would support the work.

By the end of the session, I hope you will have a clearer sense of how I work and whether continuing therapy together feels right for you.
