Practice description
What to expect: our work usually begins with an initial phone call with parents or carers. This gives you an opportunity to share your concerns, ask questions, and get a sense of whether I am the right fit for your child or teenager. We can also discuss practicalities and next steps.
Following this, sessions may involve working one-to-one with your child or young person, or working together with the child and parent(s), depending on their age, needs, and what feels most helpful. As an integrative therapist, I tailor my approach to each child, drawing on a range of therapeutic models and working at a pace that feels safe and supportive.
Parents are kept appropriately involved throughout the process, with space to reflect on progress while respecting the child’s confidentiality. My aim is to help children and young people better understand their feelings, develop resilience, and feel more secure both within themselves and in their relationships.
My first session
A first session is usually gentle, exploratory, and focused on helping everyone feel at ease.
If I am meeting with a child or young person, the session is about getting to know them rather than “doing therapy” straight away. I might explain who I am and what therapy is in an age-appropriate way, and let them know that this is a space just for them. Younger children may be invited to play, draw, or use creative materials, while older children and adolescents might talk, sit quietly, or ask questions. There is no pressure to share anything before they are ready.
If a parent joins for part or all of the session, we may spend some time together talking about what has brought you to therapy and what you are hoping for. I pay close attention to how the child and parent interact, as this can be an important part of understanding the child’s world.
Throughout the first session, I am focused on building trust, assessing what might be most helpful, and ensuring the child feels safe, understood, and respected. By the end, I will usually suggest what ongoing work might look like and answer any questions, so you can decide together how to move forward.

Practice description
Being an integrative therapist means I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach. Instead, I draw on different therapeutic styles—such as person-centred, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioural techniques—while also including mindfulness, body-based awareness, attachment-focused approaches, and EMDR therapy. This allows us to work in a way that feels grounded, compassionate, and truly suited to you. Sometimes that means exploring the past, sometimes it’s about finding practical tools for the present and often it’s a blend of both, then using that understanding to create a better future.
My first session
I provide an empathic and confidential space for an initial consultation during which I can listen to what is going on for you or your family. I can explain how therapy works and answer any questions you might have. It is a chance for you to get to know me, and me to get to know you and how I can help.
The relationship is vitally important in therapy, for this reason I offer a free initial consultation. This can be arranged by video call or phone. If it feels like we are a good therapeutic match we will set some goals together for the outcomes you would like to see.
