About me and my therapy practice

Specialist Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.

Are you concerned about your child or in need of some support as you navigate a parenting or a family issue?

Many parents don’t always know where to get support for their children and some also worry about labels. This is very understandable yet evidence shows us that children, adolescents and parents can truly benefit when they receive the right kind of professional support and guidance.

I can provide a safe, confidential space for both children and young people to help deepen their awareness and develop skills to manage their emotional wellbeing.

I am also able to work with parents individually and occasionally parents and their children can benefit from some joint sessions.

I work from my practice room in Chichester, West Sussex

Practice description

Children’s natural language is play. Play can be the bridge between the unconscious and the conscious.

My skills as a child psychotherapist enable me to respond accordingly and help the child process what they might be struggling with. Unlike adults who often rely on words to communicate, children’s main communication is their behaviour. Understanding what the individual behaviours might be communicating is key to the therapy work.

I use a wide range of creative media such as drawing, story, puppetry, drama and sandtray to help my clients feel safe and make sense of their troubles or difficult feelings. Through this children can find new and more helpful ways of being in the world. Confidentiality for the child is very important and this can be talked about during the initial meeting.

My first session

I provide an empathic and confidential space for an initial consultation during which I can listen to what is going on for your child and yourself. I can also explain how therapy works and answer any questions. It is a chance for you to get to know me, and me to get to know you and your child or teenager and how I can help.

After this initial consultation, I will complete an assessment with my recommendations for either short or long term therapy and if parent/child, parent or child work alone is what is needed.
