About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully-qualified and experienced psychotherapist and counsellor, registered with the BACP and the UKCP.
I offer talking therapy, walking or sitting in natural settings such as woodlands.
I offer support for a wide range of personal and inter-personal problems.
I am a Gestalt psychotherapist - a deep, lively approach that aims to raise awareness by focusing on what is happening here-and-now.
This is a holistic and embodied approach, meaning that we pay attention to our whole experience - thoughts, feelings, sensations, movement, and so on - in relation with each other.
It is a lively approach because I promote open and honest dialogue between us. I believe that therapy is a two-way process where you can explore how you affect and are affected by others.
This can help identify patterns in your life and relationships that you want to change, and how you might do things differently.
This includes exploring how we are influenced by past relationships and events, as well as social and cultural aspects of our lives.
I pay close attention to the diverse ways in which we experience each other and the world.
Alongside my private practice, I work in a local university. I have also worked in bereavement services and an NHS acute mental health ward.
Practice description
I hold sessions outdoors in nature, usually woodlands. We walk or sit during these sessions, as you wish.
This is an alternative to the traditional therapy setting which suits those who might feel less comfortable sitting in a room, as well as those that love being outdoors.
My first session
I offer a free phone consultation where you can say what you want help with, and ask any questions that you have.
Following this, we can arrange an introductory session, in which we can get a sense of whether we work well together and whether I can help you with whatever is bringing you to therapy.
