About me and my therapy practice
I offer integrative counselling and psychotherapy which has a leaning towards the psychodynamic modality taught in my integrative training.
If you were my client I would be working with you to develop a therapeutic relationship within which we can together experience and learn about how you react and respond in the context of relational dynamics. We might then explore your historical experience of a range of relationships, including romantic, friendship, familial and authoritative relationships. Through this exploration I can then help you to make sense of why it feels the way it does for you to be in the world. Through a process of examining and learning to understand yourself, you will find yourself able to make the changes needed to transform your experience of living in your world and engaging in the relationships you have developed.
My approach is humanistic at its core, where I meet you where you are and defer to your expertise and leadership in your process. Within that, I tend to be an active participant in the therapeutic process and show up with my own sense of self and authenticity apparent in the space.
In the years I have been practising I have developed a specialism at working with clients who present with relational trauma and display the affect of early life attachment wounds. Although my skillset has enabled me to successfully work with clients presenting with complicated grief, depression, anxiety, burnout, and life transition dilemmas.
Practice description
I work exclusively out of a suite of wheelchair accessible therapy rooms in Tavistock that provide all the facilities required to ensure clients' personal needs can be met.
I welcome all clients with warmth and acceptance from the outset and I actively encourage you to come as you are. I have no expectations of the way you tell me your story or discuss the areas of life that cause you discomfort. I will model that level of authenticity and my job is to do the work needed to attune to you.
I do not offer crisis support but will signpost you to those organisations that are set up to offer it and I will provide a comprehensive written agreement so that you are clear from day one what the parameters of my service are and what your obligations around payment and cancellation are. This will be sent out to you in writing after a free initial consultation should you decide you wish to go ahead and work with me.
My first session
By the time you are in the room with me for your first session, you will have received all the necessary information to set up the service that is right for you.
I will be ready to begin building on the foundations of relationship that will have been set down in the free initial consultation call that will have already taken place.
