About me and my therapy practice

I offer a warm, compassionate and collaborative approach to therapy, creating a safe and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and able to explore what is bringing you to therapy.

I believe therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. I work collaboratively with each person, taking time to understand your individual experiences, needs and goals. My approach is integrative, drawing on different therapeutic perspectives and adapting our work to what feels most helpful for you.

Our sessions may involve exploring patterns, relationships, emotions and past experiences, while also developing greater awareness, self-understanding and practical ways of coping with difficulties in the present. I aim to support you in making sense of your experiences rather than simply focusing on symptoms, and to help you develop a stronger sense of choice and agency.

I recognise that beginning therapy can feel daunting, and I place importance on building a trusting therapeutic relationship at a pace that feels right for you. Whether you are experiencing a particular difficulty, feeling stuck, or simply wanting a deeper understanding of yourself, therapy can provide an opportunity to pause, reflect and make meaningful changes.

My aim is to offer a space where you can be yourself, without judgement, and where we can work together towards greater clarity, resilience and wellbeing.

Practice description

I work with children and young people, teenagers and adults, offering therapy that is tailored to the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. I specialise particularly in trauma and self-harm and have experience supporting clients across different ages and with a range of difficulties.

I hold a Level 6 qualification in Counselling Children and Young People and am trained in Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I see these approaches as a therapeutic toolbox rather than something to follow rigidly. Different people need different things at different times, so I draw on the approaches and techniques that are most appropriate for you and your individual circumstances.

For some people, talking and reflecting may be central to our work; for others, creative approaches can provide a different way to express and explore thoughts, feelings and experiences, particularly when words can feel difficult. I adapt the way I work according to your age, needs, strengths and what you are hoping to achieve from therapy.

When working with trauma, I take a sensitive and paced approach, recognising that safety and trust are important before exploring difficult experiences. Where appropriate, we can work towards understanding how past experiences may continue to affect you in the present and develop ways of feeling more grounded, safe and in control.

My aim is to meet you where you are, work at a pace that feels manageable, and provide therapy that is individual, compassionate and responsive to your needs.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to begin to feel comfortable with the therapeutic process. We can talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you are experiencing and what you feel you need from support.

Everyone comes to therapy for different reasons, and there is no expectation that you will arrive with clear goals or know exactly what you want to work on. Some people find it helpful to identify specific goals from the beginning, while others may simply need a safe space to be heard and understood before they know what they want from therapy. Either is completely okay.

We will take time to think together about what might be helpful for you and how I can best support you. This may include discussing your experiences, your current circumstances and anything you feel is important for me to understand. If you are unsure where to start, that is okay too, we can take it at your pace.

The first session is also an opportunity for you to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. I believe that finding the right therapeutic relationship is important, and therapy works best when you feel able to be yourself and talk openly.

There is no pressure to share anything you are not ready to discuss. We can work at a pace that feels manageable for you, and our approach can develop as we get to know each other and understand what you need.

My hope is that you leave the first session feeling listened to, respected and with a clearer sense of whether therapy with me feels right for you.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer clinical supervision that is supportive, collaborative and reflective, with the aim of creating a space where practitioners can explore their work openly, develop their confidence and continue to grow professionally.

I have extensive experience of working therapeutically with adults, children and young people, supporting a wide range of presentations and needs. I hold a Level 6 qualification in Counselling Children and Young People, alongside training in Person -Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR and Internal Family Systems.  My clinical experience includes working with trauma and self-harm, as well as the complexities that can arise when working with different ages and stages of development.

I see my therapeutic approaches as a toolbox rather than something to follow rigidly. Within supervision, I can draw on my knowledge and experience of these approaches to help practitioners consider different perspectives and ways of working, while supporting them to develop their own therapeutic style.

I believe effective supervision is more than simply discussing cases or meeting professional requirements. It is an opportunity to step back from day-to-day practice, reflect on what is happening within the therapeutic relationship, consider different perspectives and develop greater awareness of our own responses and ways of working.

I aim to provide a balance of support and challenge, encouraging supervisees to think critically and reflect deeply while feeling able to bring uncertainty, difficult experiences and areas they may be struggling with.  Supervision can include exploring clinical work, therapeutic relationships, ethical considerations, boundaries, risk, professional development and the impact of the work on the practitioner.

My aim is to create a supervision relationship that feels safe, respectful and constructive, while maintaining appropriate professional accountability. I want supervisees to leave supervision with greater clarity and confidence

Practice description

My supervision is a collaborative space where you can step away from the demands of clinical work and have time to think, reflect and process your practice.

I believe supervision should be a place where you feel able to bring whatever is on your mind, whether that is a particular client, something that has challenged you, a decision you are unsure about, or simply the feeling that you need to talk something through. There is no expectation that you need to arrive with all the answers.

I aim to create a balance between support and constructive challenge. I will encourage you to consider different perspectives, reflect on your clinical decisions and develop your own professional judgement, while respecting that you are the practitioner working with your client.

Supervision can provide space to explore the therapeutic relationship, your responses and feelings within the work, ethical and professional questions, boundaries, safeguarding, risk and the impact of your work on your own wellbeing. I also value the opportunity to recognise what is going well and build on your existing strengths.

I do not see supervision as a place where I simply tell you what to do. Instead, I aim to work alongside you, helping you develop your thinking, confidence and self-awareness as a practitioner. Where appropriate, I may offer ideas, resources, questions or alternative perspectives to support your learning.

My intention is that supervision feels safe, respectful and purposeful, while providing appropriate professional accountability. I want you to leave sessions feeling heard and supported, but also with something to reflect on, take forward or apply to your practice.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to begin establishing a supervisory relationship that feels comfortable and purposeful.

We can talk about your current role, experience, client group and what you would like from supervision. Some practitioners may already have clear aims or areas they would like to focus on, while others may simply want to see how we work together before deciding what they need. There is no expectation to have everything figured out.

We can discuss how you would like supervision to work for you, including the balance between clinical reflection, professional development and any requirements you need to meet. We can also agree how we will approach confidentiality, recording, safeguarding, boundaries and other professional responsibilities within supervision.

The first session is also a chance for you to bring something from your practice if you would find that helpful. This can give us an opportunity to experience how we work together rather than making the session solely about introductions.

I recognise that finding the right supervisor is important. I want you to have space to decide whether my approach feels like a good fit for you and your practice.

My aim is for our first session to feel relaxed, useful and collaborative, giving us a foundation for supervision that supports both your professional development and the quality of your clinical practice.
