About me and my therapy practice

Every therapist has a range of tools at their disposal and it is these tools that help us to make sense of your world. We do this during the sessions we have together. Using these tools, I work integratively, so below are some of the ways in which I work:

We may work PSYCHO-DYNAMICALLY, which is not as worrying as it sounds - it is merely a way for us to explore any issues that come from the past that may be affecting the way you are living your life today. We all carry some of our past with us and counselling can really help us to heal from a range of emotions including those related to loss, grief and trauma.

Healing is a process so, sometimes, it is necessary to 'go back' in order to move forward.

Another way I work is HUMANISTICALLY. By this, it means we can reflect on what is impacting us in the here and now. What is happening for you? Right now?

Knowing that it is okay not to feel okay can be reassuring.

Long-term, however, where do we go from here? Issues such as anxiety and depression can make us feel like we are not moving forward, so let's hit pause and reflect.

Another was I work is COGNITIVELY. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has been proved to be very effective in helping individuals to reframe negative thoughts. The way we respond to issues are largely learnt from our pasts and it is possible to learn new, more desirable ways of interacting with others, and with life. Issues such as complex relationships, addiction, phobias and post-traumatic stress can be explored using CBT.

Therapy is not all about listening and asking how people feel.

In my practice, I will help you to identify themes and, using psychoeducation, help to raise your self awareness. In doing so, we can develop resilience. I like to share theory and resources, so that clients can manage their mental health effectively.

Practice description

Counselling provides a space for deep reflection, a space where honesty in a non-judgmental setting can enhance our understanding not just of ourselves, but others too.

I encourage you to talk through thoughts and emotions that may feel confusing, painful, or hard to put into words.

Many clients discover new insights about themselves during the counselling process, identifying strengths and possibilities they hadn’t noticed before.

It is this very awareness that can open doors to meaningful change.

I work in an empathic way and can be more directive, if this is your preference. We can take things at your pace, and begin wherever you are.

My first session

Prior to your first session, you do have the opportunity to take advantage of a complimentary 15 minute session.
