I am available on Thursday daytime, 9.30am - 5.30pm for outdoor therapy and online therapy sessions, as well as Monday evening, 7.30-8.30pm for online sessions.
The outdoor therapy sessions (also known as Walk & Talk, Green, or Wild Therapy) will take place in Radyr, North Cardiff, along the River Taff, the canal, or in the woods, depending on the client's preference.
Outdoor sessions are offered in all weathers, with the option of moving sessions online if the conditions are deemed unsafe - or if the client simply prefers to meet online that day.
Online-only sessions are also available.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist, registered and accredited with the British Association for Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP). I currently work for the NHS as a Parent Carer Counsellor, offering 1:1 counselling and couples counselling, as well as offering private practice. Prior to this NHS role I have worked in a variety of settings supporting family members including schools, colleges, university, charities, hospices and a children's hospital.
Born abroad, and having travelled and lived in different cities and countries, I bring both experience and a continued interest to cross-cultural work, and the joys and challenges posed by difference.
I love to be outdoors, and the therapeutic impact of nature is something I have not only researched, but have also experienced personally, and increasingly enjoy exploring with my clients.
My main therapeutic goals are a) to facilitate new understanding and insight for my clients, by providing them with opportunities to consider where they currently are, how they got there, and where they want to be, and b) to help my clients identify the change/s they desire and the necessary action required - however small these initial steps are.
This is achieved largely through talking therapy, as well as optional reflective activities carried out either during or between therapy sessions - depending on how the client wishes to engage with therapy.
Practice description
Although trained as an MA Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist (drawing on humanistic, psychodynamic and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy counselling theories and models), I prefer to explain my therapeutic approach jargon-free, as one that enables my clients to feel safely heard and held (metaphorically); reflecting on past or present experiences, behaviours, and relationships; naming the change/s they desire; and identifying the resources they have and need (internally and externally) for these changes to be made possible.
Creative, mindful, and reflective interventions are available to all clients.
As meaning-making creatures, I like to explore life's bigger questions with my clients, whether from a particular faith/spiritual viewpoint, or none, and to consider their sense of purpose.
