About me and my therapy practice
As a BACP accredited Counsellor I have a proven standard of experience, training and ongoing development to support you through a variety of counselling and treatment approaches. (Please see what I can help with & the approaches that I use below).
Many people come to me carrying experiences that feel heavy, embarrassing/shameful, confusing or unfinished. You may look fine on the outside but feel overwhelmed, “stuck,” or as though your past keeps reappearing when you least expect it.
My role is to offer a calm, steady, non-judgmental space where we work together to understand what’s happening — and support your mind and system to settle.
My intended style is warm, grounded and attuned. I’ll never force you to share anything before you’re ready. Instead, I help you build the internal safety and regulation needed for deeper work. We go at a pace that feels safe and achievable for you.
I am integratively trained (multiple psychological approaches), and received enhanced trauma training - working with a trauma informed approach. I am further trained and certified to adapt and deliver all services remotely (Online & Telephone based).
I have a varied background, and have professionally supported people in times of struggle, need and crisis for over 16 years. I have held private practice since 2020 as well as working as a counsellor in organisations since 2019.
I have extensive Uniformed Services experience, as well as enhanced working knowledge in the following areas:
- Criminal justice
- Addiction Services
- Steroid and IPED use inclusive of body image/hormonal balance issues
Practice description
I will blend the theoretical approaches that I am trained in to adapt to your needs and support you towards your therapeutic goals, in a down-to-earth, conversational way. I avoid being prescriptive or too focused on labels for conditions. In the first sessions, we will work together to understand what has happened to you and for you over your life to feel and be as you are now.
Finding the right therapist strongly relies on working with someone that you feel safe and comfortable within the confidential therapeutic relationship. I prioritise building rapport with people and I pride my practice on being relatable as well as non-judgmental so that you do not feel alone in the room with your challenge(s). Therapy with me is not like it is in television drama's (or comedies!). This is something that a lot of my client's have commented on as being a relief to them.
As well as Counselling, I an an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) UK and Europe Accredited Practitioner.
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy recommended by NICE (National Institute for Health & Care Excellence) for trauma. It helps the brain safely reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer feel as intrusive or overwhelming. Clients often describe feeling calmer, clearer and more themselves again. As well as trauma it is proven to be an effective treatment for a wide range of presentations including, anxiety, depression, phobia's and grief.
My first session
I offer an initial free 20 minute phone consultation to discuss an overview of your circumstance, to confirm if I am appropriate and to see if we get on.
If we agree to proceed, then depending on your presenting circumstance I may forward up to a couple of short self assessment's to gauge where you are at currently before the commencement of therapy. For anything trauma related, these will be completed within the first session together. I will ask you to complete a registration form to work together also.
In the first session, we will go through the therapeutic contract together, to set out appropriate professional boundaries and to ensure that there is a safety of understanding between us. We may also complete a short assessment, depending on presentation and discuss safety plans (if required).
Whether you are looking for your first ever counselling session or your first session since previous therapy - your safety, comfort and privacy will be my priority.

About me and my therapy practice
Clinical supervision for Counsellors, EMDR practitioners, Trainees, Criminal Justice Practitioners, Recovery Workers & Teachers — trauma-informed, relational and grounded in real-world experience.
If you are looking for your first or your next Clinical Supervisor who offer's you space to professionally breathe - then "Welcome!".
Clinical and caring work can be extremely challenging at times and absorb us. There's been times that I have managed it well and times that I haven't. Fortunately I have had great safe and reflective supervisory space to be real, learn and recalibrate. I draw on the core conditions of the supervision I have had pre, during and post qualifying as a Clinical Supervisor.
To deliver relatable supervision to you my professional background includes:
- Private Practice: Accredited integrative Counselling & EMDR Accredited
- Working in an intensive trauma & risk setting
- Emergency Services: Front line roles
- Private Sector - Counsellor & EMDR Practitioner in 2 therapy clinics
- Public Sector - Counsellor, EMDR Practitioner, Team leader & Trainer in a large organisation.
- Third Sector- Co-Founder, Director and EMDR Practitioner of an Armed Forces treatment and research service.
- Third Sector- Recovery Worker & Counsellor in a large charity for Addiction Recovery.
Practice description
My intended approach is collaborative, reflective and emotionally safe — Providing a space where you can explore your work honestly, deepening your clinical thinking and strengthening your practice with confidence.
Feedback from my supervisee's during reviews includes that they appreciate:
- A steady, calm, non-judgemental presence
- "A space that I can be myself"
- Clear frameworks for thinking through complex cases
- Space to explore emotional impact and practitioner wellbeing
- Support that balances warmth with accountability
- My appreciation of real world clinical and client challenges (Its rarely like it is meant to be in the book or in training is it?!)
- A practical understanding of traumatology, risk and high-pressure professional roles
My Clinical Supervision approach is informed by the following:
- Hawkins & Shohet’s Seven-Eyed Model
- Integrative Development Model (IDM) for Supervision
- Ethical practice rooted in BACP’s framework
- EMDR principles and phased treatment planning
Trauma-informed and relational approaches
Depending on where you are in your career and where you have come from determines your supervisory needs. Everyone is unique and we will adapt together to professionally discuss, identify and support your goals in service of your clients and caseload.
My first session
Prior to your first session, I would encourage you to get in contact and arrange a free remote consultation where we can determine suitability and preferences going into a supervisory relationship.
Once we have agreed to go ahead, I will request your proof of registration, qualification, insurance and request that you complete a registration.
In your first session we will go through the supervisory contract and explore in more detail how you would like supervision to serve you and your clients.
For trainee's - I have been there, its not easy to add supervision into the mix of your studies, home life demands and possibly another job. Instead of seeing supervision as another task that's got to be done, I hope that you will realise its worth to have someone on your side and supporting you. I offer a grounded, reassuring environment where you can develop your skills, build confidence and explore the realities of clinical work. I welcome trainee counsellors from a range of modalities and educational institutions/ counselling centres.
If you’re looking for a supervisor who is supportive, thoughtful, clinically grounded and who understands the emotional weight of trauma work - please get in touch to discuss whether we’re a good fit.
