About me and my therapy practice

About Me

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Maya Angelou.

I’m a BACP accredited relational psychotherapist, trauma/EMDR therapist and clinical supervisor, with many years of NHS and private practice experience supporting individuals through deep emotional pain and life’s most difficult challenges. BACP accreditation is a recognised gold standard in the profession, reflecting my commitment to high-quality, ethical, and evidence-based practice.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to healing and meaningful change. When we feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted, transformation becomes possible. My integrative approach means I draw from a range of therapeutic models, tailoring the work to meet your individual needs, always grounded in empathy, collaboration, and relational depth.

Speciality and Trauma/EMDR

I specialise in working with symptoms of trauma and how they show up in our adult lives such as low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, depression and anxiety symptoms, negative thoughts, lack of motivation, loneliness, addictions, struggling to say no, and overwhelm.  I believe in the healing power of unburdening painful experiences to someone that is providing a safe space to hold it.  I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), a powerful therapy for alleviating post-traumatic symptoms and PTSD.

My approach

I’m passionate about helping people reconnect with the parts of themselves that adverse childhood experiences may have silenced or pushed aside. This includes healing the relationship to self, learning to be assertive, to take up space, to say no without guilt, and to honour your own needs and boundaries. So often, trauma teaches us to abandon ourselves in order to survive. Therapy offers the space to begin reclaiming your right to exist fully, and to live from a place of self-respect and inner steadiness.

Practice description

Experience

During and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, I led an NHS counselling and wellbeing service, providing psychotherapy, mental health and wellbeing training to NHS staff, supporting frontline workers through grief, vicarious trauma, and intense emotional stress. This gave me extensive experience in working with healthcare professionals and those in caring roles, support I now continue to offer exclusively through my private practice.

My varied and extensive counselling experience includes working within several not-for-profit agencies supporting a variety of people with mild to more severe mental health challenges and women-specific charities throughout Surrey and London, as well as in private practice.

I’m also a trained clinical supervisor, working with both trainee and qualified therapists. I bring a relational and reflective approach to supervision, supporting practitioners to grow in confidence and depth.

I’m also trained in Imago Relationship Therapy, supporting people in close relationships (couples, friends, siblings etc...). Imago focuses on increasing conscious communication, healing relational ruptures, and fostering deep empathy and understanding.

My earlier career working in speech and language, gave me a strong foundation in working with autistic and ADHD individuals, and I continue to work closely with neuro-divergent clients today. I offer a space where your neurodiversity is respected, understood, and embraced.

My first session

Initial Free Consultation

To begin with I offer an initial free 20-minute phone conversation. This call is an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to counselling at this time and answer any questions you may have.  You are under no obligation to proceed with therapy after our chat, you may wish to have some time to think it over.  If you would like to go ahead, we will book an initial 6 sessions and then review progress. Short to long term counselling is available, depending on your unique needs and goals.  EMDR is available for a set number of sessions or integrated into long term counselling.

Please do get in touch, I'm very easy to talk to! No question is 'silly'!

Where am I?

A confidential counselling room in Surbiton and Kingston or online from a virtual platform or via telephone.  With the rise in online working due to the pandemic, I undertook specialist training to provide effective virtual and telephone counselling so please get in touch to discuss your own unique needs and preference.
